Vibram Five Fingers shoes - long term review

Well, I'm just back from the first run in them! So, these are my summerised thoughts - if anyone's interested: As I mentioned in a previous post, I've done a handful of proper barefoot runs recently - I felt this meant I could 'jump straight in' as it were... I went straight out on my usual...

Vibram Five Fingers shoes - long term review

I took the plunge and bought some from ebay! £48, brand new with tags - chap tried them on in the house and couldn't get on with them for martial arts apparently... I'm shoe size 9, but using the measuring guide on the VFF website, I needed a size 8, so that's what I' bought. They should arrive...

Vibram Five Fingers shoes - long term review

Thanks for the review. I've tried a couple of months of barefoot running after reading lots about it on the net, and joining a google discussion group. Barefoot Ted being the most noteworthy advocate. Anyway, I don't do massive distances, really only ever as much as 3 miles x 3 times a week. I...

    Recipe for Birch sap wine?

Got some that we made in the spring, and have just started drinking now! It's bloomin strong, but perfectly drinkable... will find the recipe for you. I know it used raisins - and tbh, I'd be tempted to use less, or something else next time, as they tend to give it a sort of "sherry" edge.

    Which Bolete is this....

Hi All, Very interested in the answer to this Q - I picked a couple of these last year to try and ID them, found them on scrub land (old railway sidings) underneath 10 year old (or so) birch trees. Couldn't ID them with the book I had, or on google :( Thanks for asking OP!

    Birch tapping

well, i got a full and overflowing gallon demi-john over exactly 11.5 hours overnight. it's the first time I've tasted it though, is it supposed to tast like water with a bit of an aftertaste? I'm a bit worried that I've just collected a gallon of rain water. :)

    Birch tapping

just drilled me a nice 10mm hole in one of the bigger birch trees near me..... FLOWING LIKE A TROOPER! it seems my knife wasn't penetrating far enough, the real flow of sap was well over an inch into the tree. there we have it, flowing well in leicestershire.

    Birch tapping

right, in that case I'm just going to go and drill the bloody hole... this knife test is obviously not working if people north of me have sap running.

    Birch tapping

Still not got anything in leicestershire yet.... maybe I'm doing my knife test wrong... it's my first time! fixed blade brushetto(?) balder... stab it in as far as it will go, in this case, about half an inch... wait 30 seconds.... nothing. might go out with the old battery drill tomorrow...

    springers, PCP's and Co2's

My ropey old BSA meteor kills plenty, is zero'd in nicely, and only has about 8ft/lbs of force... I think. springers are fine. :)

Bill, thanks for that! Mine is slightly different, but the same design sheath may still be ok... he's a pic of one similar to mine:

Bill Hook Sheath - advice needed

Hi All, I'm a big fan of having my bill hook on my when I'm out and about, but i'm getting fed up of all the ruined coat pockets! Has anyone ever made a sheath for a staffordshire type billhook? That's the type with a standard curved blade, but then with an addition straight cutting edge...
