Springer spaniel pup advice on winter

Brilliant thanks everyone. Such helpful advice. I don't get on this forum as regularly as I should but the wealth of experience is excellent. I knew someone on here was bound to have springers and Macaroon your post was spot on. Great to hear from someone with that kind of first hand experience...

Springer spaniel pup advice on winter

Hi all, I know this isn't really a dog advice forum as such but I couldn't really find the answer elsewhere online and I know there are others here with springers as companions. Provided her temperament develops into a dog that likes to stay close as opposed to one that's gone the moment she's...

Send us some of that snow over would you? :)

    Quick Brewup and Test

You got out, played about with fire and learned something from it. I'd say you had a successful trip out! Don't discount wood as no good after its rained. I was out recently after several days of heavy rain and managed to find some really good dry softwoods from off the ground even. The...

    Where to buy leather?

Went with eBay in the end, cheers guys. I do have an old leather belt but wanted something a good 6 inches in width as a strop. Will bear in mind your suggestions for anything else though :)

    Twice punctured!

That looks amazing! Well done sir. I've just bought one of these blades having read a guide on making a handle out in the field. Had a go with a piece of hazel last weekend and spent a good quarter of an hour trying to gradually get it to bend without snapping but it eventually gave way...

    Where to buy leather?

I'm after a piece for making a nice wide strop on a wooden base and then something to go around the top of the axe handle as a guard. I can see stuff on eBay but do people have any suggested suppliers? Thanks, Dave

    Saw blade sheath - ideas?

I tried the billy thing but it's so tensioned get it in there it looks like it'll have my arm off when it comes to taking it out! Lol Will try the conduit idea perhaps. Not quite traditional like I was thinking but probably the most common sense approach!

    Headlamp Hustle

Those 7 led headlamps are pretty naff by modern standards. I do have one and it has the least light output of all the headlamps I have. Those LEDs are outdated now. If you want something decent for not much more I think I paid around £3.50 for a Chinese knock off of the lenser head torch on...

    Fallkniven F1 opinions

Thanks for everybody's comments, you've all succeeded at putting me off :lmao: It's way more than I've ever spent on a knife so I wanted it to be something I'd be happy with. I think I need to spend more time working on the mora and getting a decent edge on that as well as getting maybe a second...

The F1 pro seems massively more expensive? Over twice the price which I don't think I could justify. Looks nice though!

    Saw blade sheath - ideas?

Hi all, looking for some inspiration on how to sheath a 23inch bahco saw blade I recently bought. The idea is to carry it out and make its handle in the field. At the moment it gets carried in the cardboard sleeve it was delivered in but as the top pokes out of the lk35 pack I use, the first...

    Fallkniven F1 opinions

I've had a read around and watched some YouTube videos but wanted to ask again for some fresh opinions. What's people's experience? My current knife is a stainless Mora 2010 Bushcraft knife and I've never been that impressed. I've had 2 other people have a try and sharpen it and although I can...

    Fjallraven trouser sizing??

+1 on all comments above. I'm conveniently between sizes on most trousers. A 33inch waist. Bought the euro size 50 which is for a 33 - 34 waist and they are spot on. The worst thing is finding someone who can do a quality job on taking the length off the legs. Should have enough fabric left...

What's the deal with this Lavvu

I took mine out for the first time last weekend and loved it. It was me that went with harvestman in his recent trip report. I'd read a lot of concerns over space to sleep so made sure I spoke to militarymart ensuring they sent me a pair that both had 3 eyelets. At 5ft 10 I had no issues...
