    Casio or Suunto?

I have a Suunto Observer and have been very disappointed with it. The compass will not keep it's setting, and the watch seems to be needlessly complicated. I will buy a Casio next time. David Enoch

    Hennessy Explorer Ultralite A-sym hammock

It looks like the underblanket would block the exit hole? I have not had the opportunity to try a hammock yet. The bottom entry in the HH looks more cumbersome that the side entry but I have nothing to judge that by. David Enoch

Details about the Mora Mors Kochanski uses??

That's the same article I saw. I looked for it again and couldn't find it. I was wondering if there was any more lengthy article about it. Thanks, David Enoch

Details about the Mora Mors Kochanski uses??

I saw a small picture with a caption about the Mora knife Mors Kochanski uses. The picture showed a standard red wood handled Mora with a forward lanyard loop through the handle, said the blade guard was ground off, and said the tip of the blade was re-ground to a modified tanto shape. Does...

Old English Outdoors Books and Writers

In the States, Nessmuk ( George Washington Sears), Kephart, Whelen, and Rutstrum are some of the more revered writers of outdoors literature. After getting into Bushcraft, I have been able to obtain some old copies of some of those books. Who are some of the writers in England of outdoors...

Tutorial: An Improved Tarp Tent Shelter Design for Bushcraft Camping

Hi David W., Thanks for the description and taking the time to take measurements for me. I need to get out and play with my tarp some more. Hopefully it will look better this time. David Enoch

Tutorial: An Improved Tarp Tent Shelter Design for Bushcraft Camping

David, did you get your tarp yet? Did it come with any set-up instructions? I am interested on how far apart the stakes are on the sides. In the video, it appears that they are wider apart than the back stakes. Also, how deep is the set-up from front to back and how high is the peak? I am...

    Amazing woodsman tarp

There is another thread on this with more information: http://www.bushcraftuk.com/index.php/Forums.html Take a look at the layout that shows the locations of the grommets and loops. Then watch the video again and you will start to figure it out. I tried it this past weekend with an 8' x 10'...

Tutorial: An Improved Tarp Tent Shelter Design for Bushcraft Camping

One thing I like about this set-up is that it would allow you to use your tarp in a public campground as it provides the necessary privacy. As with most tarp set-ups, mosquito protection is it's weakest link. I had an 8 foot x 10 foot tarp at home so when I got home Friday evening I got it out...

Tutorial: An Improved Tarp Tent Shelter Design for Bushcraft Camping

I found that video last weekend and must have watched it a dozen times since then. It seems like magic when he stands it up and a tent comes to shape from that flat tarp. I just ordered this tarp: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=254694 from Sportsman's Guide and and hope to...

My knife broke! Make sure you can trust yours.

I had a Smith and Wesson neck knife that had a skeletonized handle. Saturday, I was working in the back yard and needed to cut a few vines which were about 3/8" in diameter. I cut a couple easily and then on the next cut, the blade rotated up. What the heck, then I realized that the blade had...

which knife would you have with you

Like I said in another thread, I have become a fan of big knives. A military sized Khukri or a Tramontina machete would do for me. When you come down to a survival situation, a strong powerful tool is an advantage. David Enoch

    in your pockets

I didn't mean to show off. That's just what I carry 7 days a week. I hope I never have to use any of the gear in an emergency situation. I do feel blessed to have some freedoms left that others have lost. David Enoch
