Christmas Moot at Bridgend Moot site?

sleeping with a kit mat in there makes it warmer as long as you use a synthetic bag with it. a poncho around the hammock also helps with windproofing but hammocks are not nor ever have been a winter item unless you were in the navy or living in a hut.

Christmas Moot at Bridgend Moot site?

scout sites would probably be more receptive as scouts aren't allowed to camp in winter. my neighbours newly ex missus was constantly down there larping as a stargate ancient or similar.

    British Wet Weather Camping Tips!

an extra wide necked half litre bottle with hazzard tape a better idea unless you like chief scout cocoa :) still got two tango bottles from at least 15 years ago - hows that for recycling! you could also dilute said fresh bottle contents with a drop of sugar and make your own powerade. we...

    British Wet Weather Camping Tips!

nothing wrong with starting the day wet and drying out soldiers just live with it and male the best of it, if you are active enough then the extra wind helps dry you out. the hard part is getting used to it day after day after day. the harder part is keeping your feet serviceable and some sock...

    Fire & Uninterested Police

plenty of money in the pot for coppers and panda cars its the police themselves moving the money into fancy areas like cctv, fancy cars, computers and armed response units which are no good when taken outside of their chosen scenarios as shown in the moat case. its the police who have done as...

Which bushcraft era or style ?

the mountain man style of working with a kitchen knife is fun to do and I dont know anyone else who does as they all carry tiddly hand crafted thingies. its more of a challenge to just use a knife and what you find. No point having an axe unless you want to build a cabin and the sioux have been...

    Fire & Uninterested Police

junior bushcrafters get everywhere nowadays dont they, all these adults leading them astray. I blame rampant immigration and claim my free Daily Mail subscription. the more you ring the more they have to log it in as an incident which can then be reported to your local councillor bod, you...

    Crusader Cooker

just sticking meths in the tray works well enough though not as efficient as making a can stove 20mm high and filling with rockwool as it gives a nice focused blue flame. or even just filling the tray with rockwool then meths as just like sand it slows the fuel and stops it boiling away (if that...

    reproofing.

well did some more today as per teepees suggestion I used a sponge roller which does work very well, the only issue I have is there seems to be no way to keep it fresh for use it as you make it or you get lumps as the silicone clings to the container. for those redoing 58 ponchos as I did...

    PLCE - Webbing

hunt about for OG 90 patt the earlier stuff is better but if you can get a bunch of waterbottle/utility pouches instead of ammo pouches or just use one ammo pouch for choccy bars and binos or flask cup. 20 years ago when adapting a bergan I remade a side pouch into a large butt pack and used...

    reproofing.

one query I do have if anyone knows a solution, I stuck the missus under a 20 year old aussie hootchie at the weekend (which has spent most of its life in the stores or wrapped up) and it leaked unlike the even older OG one I have which has no sealing at all. it seems they used that manky yellow...

    woodlore courses less popular?

the dirge of part timers running their own spoon carving and nettle string courses cant help, lofty benefitted from some tv exposure but had the same problem back in the 80s with every ex marine and para buying a landrover setting up a weekend survival school. this time you get 'graduates' of...

Bushcraft Magazine - Why So Expensive?

simply put - label it bushcraft and up the price by a third! its not very good for the price at all really considering the subject matter they can cover, they dont really do it that well either from a beginner or purist level as you know the idiots will allways vote for ray mears as...
