My first introduction to Bushcraft came via my archaeological studies in which I specialised in the Late Upper Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods and later focussed upon palaeoenvironmental and climatic studies. In 2000 I was lucky enough to be accepted as a volunteer on a week long experiment to live (as close as possible) within a Mesolithic tribe. Along with 11 others we learnt new skills such as flint knapping and tool making, skinning, hut construction, camp fire making and cooking, net making, herbalism (first aid) and hunting techniques amongst many other things. Part of this experiment was open to the public for questions and an article was written for the BAR Archaeology Journal. More recently I've developed an interest in Green Woodworking, particularly pole lathe turning and after working as a bathroom and kitchen fitter's mate for several years I gained my full scope Part P electrical qualification.

I love hiking less well trodden paths to find wild swimming spots or interesting historical places.
