The handle on the frying pan is certainly idiotic. I don't know whether to return the set or to chop the handle off and get a pot grabber.
I can get the Primus stainless frying pan which is bigger (21cm vs 2 * 17cm) locally for 35€, the Tatonka set was only 20€
I was looking for a stainless frying pan and found the Tatonka Regular Camp Set locally with 50% discount. I believe the Scout Set is the same pan and bowl without the pot.
I picked it up last now and find the handle quite strange. When locked into place, it's lower than the pan so the pan...
So I purchased the Travel100 Trekking trousers and wore them today. I wasn't worried at all while walking off the path looking for firewood, unlike I would be wearing something like a synthetic puffy. I'm pleased overall but we'll see how they hold up.
I appreciate your advice Erbswust. If the Solognac's were available in zip-off, then I'd take those for sure. I can't hike in pants, even as it heads towards 0, and I don't fancy packing a pair of pants.
I'll try the Travel100's. I can always patch the knees if I find they soak up too much...
Thanks for the detailed write up Erbswurst, there's a lot to consider.
'The first' being the Travel100 and 'the others' being the Travel500? In what way was the cut unsuitable for you? They actually fit me quite well.
I might just go for them, they have the 2 year warranty. I don't like to...
I should have updated my profile, I’m not in the UK but similar weather, just a little drier.
Decathlon say that the Travel500 use 190g/sqm fabric.
I guess I was just wondering if anyone had handled them and decided if they were suitable for a day in the woods or not
I've had a single wall Klean Kanteen for 4 years now and it's my every day bottle so it's a bit dented. I'm confident that it won't leak after filling it with hot water and putting it inside my sleeping bag, I wouldn't do the same with a supermarket brand.
To start off, I used to spend more time in the mountains than in the forest but lately I've been doing more shorter trips with fires. Most of my gear is lightweight, synthetic and super comfy but obviously doesn't fair well around the fire.
I was in Decathlon yesterday and tried on the...
Does anywhere stock the Appkit Viper? Appkit themselves are taking preorders at the moment but I need a head torch in a couple of weeks and they appear to be the best value for money
Surplus and Outdoors have them with side pockets for 39.99 Grade C (i.e not broken)

Anywhere better?
I've got a Filson Cover Cloth jacket, I believe they source their fabrics from the same supplier as Barbour; British Millerain.
I've also just purchased a matching hood and 24oz wool liner
I've heard of (but not seen) people sending their Barbours in to get some moleskin or cord on the cuffs to...
