    Sharpening a carpenters foot adze?

I've used adzes for many years, mostly for dressing oak beams. Mine are sharpened at roughtly 30 degrees. Nice job with cleaning it up.

    Calling bodgers! !

Turn it green and fit it when it's dried as the oval shape is better to grasp.

Hear what you're saying Stu but it's often to easy for things to get complicated with too much information. So going back to basics, when I tale my boys out to the woods, we leave nothing behind.

Really? Or just don't take them there in the first place. Or take them home as your packs are lighter anyway. As much respect as I have for RM, isn't it all the small factors that add up to bigger effects? If you're spending time out in the wilds to get closer to nature, seems lazy to me to...

Hi there, not posted anything for a while but have been following things hoping I'll have a weekend free when you'll meet up sometime! Anyway, found a very fresh muntjac roadkill last week. What to do with my Grandads old tools

Just because you can't use them now doesn't mean you won't in the future. Sharpen them, clean them and keep them.

What to do with my Grandads old tools

Clean them up with some linseed oil and put them on a shelf in your mancave. It's unlikely they're very valuable but they were your grandfathers.

    Woods for axe handles

In both cases birch will do if it's just for show but will not stand the test of time if worked. It just doesn't have the strength or elasticity of ash. It would be a shame to put all the work into making and helving your axes only to have them break first time you really work them.

What sort of axe are you helving?

Making A Table From Circular Slices Of Oak....Stopping Splitting?

You'll have more success if you cut the slices across at a 45 degrees. Otherwise you'll have to use chemical treatments to prevent splitting.

    Woods for axe handles

You can't find ash in Kent? Buddy find a local Bodger, a local BTCV group, tree surgeons... But only use cleft ash.
