(anyone else noticed the older you get the worse the hangovers are when i was 16 sorry 18 i could bounce out of bed after a night out now i feel dreadful til the next evening!)

YES! I've really cut back and will only take a small flask of single malt now. Slowly working through various bottles brought back from visiting scottish relatives last summer. The Strathisla distillery in Keith give you a dram before the £5 tour and one at the end. Definitely lubricates the wallet! Bought a 15 year old and a 13 year old cask strength straight away :)

After 15 years as a coffee drinker i have just discovered the delight of a cup of tea in the morning. Happiness is bird song with a cup of tea.

Sad but true! Tea for me during the day but a hipflask of Bowmore or Talisker for the evening once the work is done. I don't know about you folks but for me scotch never tastes as good anywhere else as it does by a campfire.

If i take alcohol which is very rare its a bottle of port.
needs no mixer so no extras to take, not particularly alcoholic so no getting slaughtered and falling in the fire and its one of the few drinks that i dont wake up with a hangover from hell having drunk it.

I llike Port too or a 'pusser' Rum.
As for hangovers? I am one of those people that doesn't get them even when I have been silly with alcohol consumption. Doesnt happen these days but in my youth.....
Worst I have had was a sore throat from so much throwing up! Ever since that one time I don't drink Southern comfort lol. Well I had drunk just over two and a half bottles ( don't ask leaving do at work and damn stupid!).
My wife on the other hand can't handle alcohol at all and as the saying goes ' one sniff of the barmaids aperon and she's drunk'

If I drink alcohol around the campfire it will be probably port , beer or some home made liquor from fruit and husk (the last one makes everyone warm in an instant!:D)

while I don't have much experience (what with still being under 18 and all) I tend to find that a beer or two is my preffered drink of choice.
if only because when I have witnessed people using anything much stronger I have noted the difficulty in keeping the intake sensible, and I have yet to find a cider or wine I will drink.

I don't drink beer, ale or lager because I am allergic to barley
however I love Cider, preferably Aspalls (my local brew)
however I also love a bottle or three of Henry Westons Cider which can be found growing on trees (see earlier posts)

also brandy, port and Perry
there is also a drink similar to brandy that you can only seem to find in france (armagnac?) but that is great, although I only have a few swigs left

but at home the G + T seems to come out quite often, but mixers are a PITA when you are in the woods

hopefully I can add my latest homebrews to the list
Tayberry Gin and Loganberry Gin
Cherry Brandy (Kirsch)
Raspberry Gin
Strawberry Vodka

I think University will be fun in September!
