It has indeed, I will probably be hobbling about as I have done my left knee in, that should make it even easier to spot me.

It'll be good to catch up:)

You really should give up line dancing Leon.. Its bad for your poor ol legs mate..
I am still hoping to get to the gathering on saturday but Janies car is poorly at the mo..
Be good to see you all again..

Good timing , or what.

I made it home last night and just now I,m frantically packing my kit for the WG.

Keep an eye open for the old-timer , in galluses, with the homemade hat and knotworked stick!

So? How did it go then?

I could only make it on the Sunday but had a great time:

Tried vegetarian jerky (not nearly as bad as it sounds! Really very nice)
Had a quick chat with Dave Budd about sharpening trends (not nearly as dull as it sounds! Actually, that was a bit of a pun, wasn't it?...) and had a look at some of his very nice blades - fantastic regional wooden handles, really nice work
Had a long chat with Bob & Rose from Backpacking Light as I'd recently bought a Shangri-La 3 from them. Really nice people, and fantastic to deal with. They have some excellent products and you always get a few little 'extras' when you buy from them. Great service.
Walked away from Red Deer with my wallet intact...must ... not ... buy ... more Fjallraven ... and ... Maxpedition ... They have some great stock - shame they can't get hold of it at better wholesale prices (that's not meant as a criticism by the way, I understand the issues involved with sourcing small amounts of kit from the US).
Had a few general chats with others, just hanging around exhibitors' stalls, and talking about all sorts of rubbish
I wished I had been able to do some of the courses and stay the whole weekend (although I got the feeling that there had been a little bit of rain on Sunday morning...

Yeah, generally it went very well, very nice to meet up with old and new faces alike (you know who you are because there are too many to mention by name:)). Met some very nice people, was very impressed by the demo by Ian Spicer on his furry little friend.

Was very much impressed by the pure class and craftsmanship of PatrickM, who I must say is a pleasure to meet.

Another group of people who were also very much on form being the guys from Footsteps of Discovery, always a pleasure to meet, who always give excellent and informative instruction. Good to see you again SMARTY, Spanner, John and Adam.

Big thanks to Roger and the guys for running the event and for letting me off the bring buy for a year, also a big thanks to Steve and Stuart for running the bring and buy, you did an awesome job:).

I wouldn't have missed it.

I dunno, but I often think that the "being there" , is like loggin-on....you just know that youre in like minded company and theres always something new to discover.
