Up here this year they are really really tart, me and the little one were out the other week on our bikes and ate a gut full each, those that weren't tart were super sweet. It's great taking kids foraging as you get to relive the magic of finding wild food through their experience

I'm convinced the WT were simply desperate to use the strapline "Crumbles In Crises" and align this with the Bake Off/Mary Berry.

No shortage here either, and I found mine unusually sweet, compared to previous years.
Still loads left and more on the way...
Some gone off mouldy , so I threw them in the other side of the garden so hopefully next year I'll have 2 lots...
:)

Raspberries still not out yet though...
:(

Julie's been prodding me to go out and get some more after discovering the joys of Blackberry syrup on pancakes, ice cream and the industrial strength sponge cake from mother. Pickings have been lean along roadside and cycle paths aroundhere but still plenty of untouched hedgerows. Just got to get out there and get over the fence

So worth it or at least it will be when I finish pulling the thorns out of my arm!

I dunno you'd think that was blood on your hands instead of berry juice

When the opportunity presents, harvest as much as you can.
In the months to come, it just seems easier to attend to preserves and the like
when the quantitiy isn't quite so precious.
"Oh, I have only 200ml. I can't mess this up."
Me: "Oh. I have 12kg in the freezer. What shall I make?"
Then when the day comes that I have only 200ml, I have some established ideas.
