Our recent grocery order had some things destined to be 'camp cooking' staples, some of which were:

Lentils
Lardons/bacon bits
Instant noodles (gotta LOVE our local Chinese supermarket ;) )
Quick-cook pasta
Cartons of chopped tomatoes (rather than tins - courtesy of Sainsburys)
Semolina
Condensed milk (squeezy bottle)

There was more but I can't remember it off the top of my head!

I tend to cook things that are easy to clean up. Rice, pasta, noodles, cous-cous based one pot meals. Meat - bacon, sausages, black pudding because you can cook it right on the fire most times. I take fruit as well, apricots, kiwis, apples, bananas, tangerines are my favourites. Energy bars and chocolate bars and mixed nuts whilst walking. Potatos are great and easy to boil and mash, tinned tuna too, sardines, salami.

I've been dying to try bannock. What do you guys eat it with?

Get some chorizo, slice it up and fry it. it will release the oils in it
dip the bannock in the oils and eat the slices of chorizo, bliss

Awesome. I love chorizo and sausicon (sp?)

If you leave brie cheese in its box and wrap it in tinfoil and put it into a fires embers you get fondue, bet that's nice with bannock too Yum!!

Pot noodles, use the empty carton as a cup and throw it away when you get home :D

I like to take beans, pasta, sandwhiches/bread, bacon, eggs, and chocolate muffins! :D
