Traquair Medieval Fayre - This Weekend 25+26 May '19

Medieval Fayre at Traquair House doon the borders this weekend on the 25th and 26th May.

I didn't go this year but have gone to the previous 3 I think, have a friend that trades there and it's not very far from us....how was it this year?

First time I've been, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The jousting was excellent entertainment - like the wrestling but on horses (Sir Checkmate is a baddie, and deserves all the booing he gets). The hog roast with a half of Traquair Ale was delicious. Turned out I'm rubbish with a longbow (but it was enough to pique my interest in archery). I missed the various skirmishes, but the cannon and archery demos were impressive. Really liked the overall atmosphere in the market area - it was like walking into a village in a role playing game. There was a lot happening, and I didn't get much of a look at some things (like the musicians/instruments and the printing press), so I think I'll be going back.
