Up early again this morning Ivan.
No time for post meet blues my friend as I'm just packing my kit and heading down soon.

No venison from me but I'm sure you'll end up with a few feet of 550, tarp clips, torch or indeed anything else I leave unattended while I sleep

Thanks for the kind words Big Al , you would have loved it , still looks like you had a fab meet yourselves , fine food , good company and boy you is getting a bit good at the old foraging thing !

Richie , you sir are casting aspersions , as to my kleptomania , as you well know it is an illness i suffer from , only whilst in camp and mainly when people are at rest or are not looking ! So please warn the newbie that he isn't going mad when he can't find certain items he was sure he had brought with him .

Is the tramp bringing his fish thing ? Or shall i bring dutch oven and various other pots and pans kettle etc?

Anyway the Newman fellow is picking me up at 1600hrs , quick stop at the essential supply shop and then straight to the woods , so see you reprobates at about 1800hrs .

Safe journey.

Ivan..

Ps thought as this meet appears to run concurrently (like a sentence) right after the other one we will post all nonsense pics etc here .

The Jolly Boys Outing Part 2! Home for one night , didn't like it ! So turned tail and went straight back to the woods , Paul,Richie,Steve,John(newbie) and myself, have just returned from a great weekend in the woods on the southern fringe of Dartmoor and once again a roaring sucess.

Plenty of great woodland catering,a few beers, a lovely walk , laughter in abundance and some new wildcamping terminology!

Some juicy photographs and a worrying video as proof to follow shortly .

Thanks guys , guts are still aching, looking forward to some shots , i think !

Ivan...

Ps. The short film , uploaded straight from camp , was cleverly put together ,and is not necessarily my view on wild foraging , i am currently in talks with my solicitor ..

Hi Ivan

Thoroughly enjoyed myself thanks to you, Steve Paul and Richie. The food and company was great.

Its been a while since I have been on this forum so thought it would be good to get connected once more after such a great weekend.

Also now realize you get what you pay for in terms of tents. Back to my trusty Vango after the cheepy Lidl's nonsense lasted less than 5 hours in calm dry weather.

I now will be seriously considering a tarp and hammock.

Lets hope the photographic evidence is not too incriminating.

Thanks again

Jon

Some of you have been taking an interest in how I lost my virginity and what it was like. I refer of course to my first night in a hammock last weekend.

It was ok. I got a reasonable nights sleep - no better or worse than if I'd been on the ground. Some of my imagined fears were dispelled. Would it be comfortable to not be flat, for example - it turned out not to be a problem. There is a bit of a knack to swinging and there are things that require a bit of skill to master, like sitting up, but they are quickly learned and my second night was even better.

I'm sure I disappointed those attending by not falling out. Initially setting it up at chin height did give some amusement, especially when I tried to get into it.

I have lost my virginity and have discovered that I am AC/DC. Both ground and tree. (Go for it Lucy!)

I have found the recording of our good friend Steve (Redandshane). He features in the last minute of this track and is at his most understandable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVzij4HF4wM :)

It has come to my notice that a certain member of the Jolly Boys is displaying the early symptoms of a pernicious phenomenon that I last witnessed in my 20s. It runs like this: First your mate comes in the pub, like normal, but he's away with the fairies. (This early stage of the disease is known to medicine as leurve and is very dangerous to the individual.) Then he stops coming into the pub with his mates. Then he can't get to the boy's days out. Next thing you know he's sold his motorbike. Before you know it you're being put into a starched collar, going to the church, being handed a supposed 'bundle of joy' by one of the ladies (sadistic bar stewards) and having to make cooey-cooey noises over his new creation. Uurgh! And - Yuck! Think I might vomit. :yuck: The 'bundle of joy' is guaranteed to vomit on me - they always did. :)

Get a grip that man! Before it's too late! I can't afford to have my suit cleaned. (No names mentioned but you know who you are!)

Great choice of music Ichy, used to recite it when I was young.
Regarding a certain member of the Jolly boys, i did say cheerio it was nice knowing you ;)
I have found myself changing from hammocks back to the ground of late mainly because I'm very lazy when nature calls in the night and there is plenty of room to be messy and spread out lol.
