Hi all,

Well it is Saturday, and as tradition dictates, that's my "me" time. This weeks bimble was particularly poignant as it was exactly 1 year to the day that my father died...so, with that in my head and heart I set out...

This is about 10 acres of mixed deciduous broadleaf woodland on the farm...one of my favourite corners of this planet we live on...

On old shelter made over a year ago...proof the design stands up to whatever the British whether can throw at it. I deliberately left this up purely to see how long it would last. I'm a firm believer of "leave no trace"...

There is a pretty little fresh water stream that borders the woodland...and like a lot of other British waterways it has an invader in the shape of the American signal crayfish...

Once I got deeper into the woods I stopped to try a new tarp setup. I've seen this on YouTube and wanted to give it a go. It's ok, probably more suited the colder or inclement weather...but I felt detached from my surroundings when inside it.

Not a bad spot to spend a few hours...this woodland is chock full of rabbit, pheasant, badger, fox, muntjac and fallow deer...the buzzards are back in this spot of woodland after being away for the last 2 years. I love to hear their calls as they soar above camp...

Now that shelter was sorted, time to prioritise!!

Everything just tastes better outdoors...

Time to fill the freezer with rabbits...my dogs will be ecstatic when I walk in the front door with a brace of conies!

Birch polypore...great for stropping and plasters - but I don't need to tell YOU that!

Wanted a room with a view so quickly changed the tarp setup - much better!

Time for lunch....rabbit, potatoe and veg...lovely!!

A room with a view!

Truly indispensable...one of my best purchase! And a handy size to take into the field too...

So, after a lovely morning of reflection and "me" time it was time to pack up and head to the horse paddocks to thin out the bunny population...leave no trace and take only memories...

Cheers,
Paul.

Shame it was only a morning - nice one, and I couldn't agree more about the tarp set-up; unless absolutely neccessary I can't understand setting a tarp up like a completely enclosed tent.

Just realised I might get shot down for that comment :)

Cheers guys! Love living in this part of the world...just enjoy getting out when I can and seeing the seasons change.

NarzaCyst I found it on YouTube...just type in tarp tent...takes less than 60 seconds to throw the tarp up...
