A toss up between an issue ventile arctic smock and a great canvas wall tent.... now that is probably the gold medal winner just there wish I could have that one and modify it into a hot tent for winter camping.

1. Kifaru Scout. Sold it because it was too big for my daypack needs at the time, bought a Tailgunner instead. Subsequently added a baby to the family.

Tailgunner not big enough for daypack any more...

2. I lent a small maglite to a friend and never got it back and now they can't find it. Monetary value was negligible but the sentimental value makes me disproportionately rue the day it left my pocket!

I have one in a pouch somewhere you can have, message your address ..

That's incredibly generous of you mikehill. I couldn't accept such a kind gesture in good faith as I've already replaced it and to be honest it doesn't see much use. It was the sentimental value that got me.

I tend to carry a little Petzl headlamp around with me these days. It's brighter and more practical than having to hold a torch in your gob when you need both hands!

Thank you for the very kind offer though, what a lovely gesture to wake up to on a day off.

This was my Remington 700 PSS. I rebuilt this rifle and took it out of the HS Precision stock that the US Army Snipers use and into the AICS that puts it in a format that the British Forces use. I added the enormous T12 moderator. This thing was a tack driver.

I was placed in the McQueens Sniper Competition at the Bisley Autumn Internationals with this rifle against rifles costing 5 to 10 times my budget.

I sold it to buy an Accuracy International AE (the rifle mine ended up looking like) This has a big competition barrel on it and whilst it’s great for 1200 yard shooting I just don’t have the ability to snap shoot the McQueens with it.

Gutted! Still in touch with the guy that bought it.

What calibre was it in? Nice rifles.

What optics for +1000 yards?

I think I was Running a Bushnell 6500 Elite 4.5-30x50.

It was in .308 which will drive a 155gr bullet accurately to 1000 yards if you can get the muzzle velocity beyond 2900fps.

With a 26” barrel that takes a lot of ooomph. So part of my reason to change was the lure of a 32” barrel. Those extra inches give the bullet longer to accelerate. Less powder same oomph.

Nice, what twist was the barrel out of interest? I use and reload a 25.06 for most of my deer work.
