Hope this thread is in the right place :)

I have a Polish Army Poncho tent and it leaks. Am I correct in thinking that Nikwax Cotton treatment will sort it? If so what quantity do I need to buy, would 1 litre suffice?

Thanks in advance
Allan

I ended up using about 500ml of Fabsil which gave it sufficient water repellency, but given a continuous soaking overnight in the middle of the cold snap last year, it did absorb a fair bit of water as well.

Fabsil was all I had on hand, I dare say Nikwax would do a better job. I've also read (somewhere on this forum I think) that Thompsons Water Seal brickwork sealer will do just as well.

The concensous with Thompsons, was that the old stuff did (and said it did canvas on the tin) but they changed the formula and now it doesn't do canvas. I bought some B&Q own brand and that said it did canvas on the tin, but that was a while ago.

According to an old polish scouting manual melt some parafine (candle) in the pot then "paint" the material. After that spread the canvas on a flat surface, cover with paper and then iron the whole thing :)
