After a terrible event on Volunteering work I realise I need some way to open a tin.

(My SAK hasnt one, I have several SAKs but the good ones I left at home.)

The British one will do...or the American.

I have

AAA bateries (Duracel) Was boght a big box but no longer have the camera they are for.
Piece of leather big enough for a pouch
beeswax

99p at any pound stretcher, B&M, Home Bargains (pretty sure they had one at 79p). Got to be cheaper than both of you paying postage costs.
Surely there must be some cheap shop near you ?

Somewhere I have two or three of those wee folding ones that came with ratpacks. Blooming awkward things to use, but they do work.

Here, this fellow will send you one for 99p, and that's including the postage :)

Thanks Toddy.

I dont want a cheap one...the cause of my woes...the millitary ones are easy to carry...And I `know` I can use it...

I imported loads of P38 and P51 and used to sell them here. Someone must have a spare.

Try a wanted ad asking for a Shelby p-51.

Oh, Yes!

Ok, I want a Shelby Cobra....

(No, thats not it...)

I also have to offer 10 paper cranes.

(If you must ask, there was a wedding on recently here and I grabbed a whole load of interesting things that were thrown out. I do not know how to make paper cranes...)

If I can locate them they’ll fit in an ordinary envelope so postage should be reasonable. I’ll look deeper when I get home.

I just looked on the picture.
Saw an opener I have been using for around 50 years, closed link.

There is a better version of it to be frank, developed later.
The holding part is longer, and has a few more functions.
One good one is to lever up the sharp can lid, easier with the longer version.

Edit: No, it mentions all. Plus some which are not realistic.
Plus - cleaning teeth? Really?

It is an awesome tool, largely forgotten these days.

There are actually at least two other versions. One of them is exactly the same except slightly larger. It’s called the B-52 and seems to be a commercial development. The other is an Australian one with about a 4 or 5 inch part that you hold when opening cans, and then use as a makeshift spoon to eat the rations. It’s called a F.R.E.D. (The official acronym means Field Ration Eating Device but the soldiers called it the F***ing Ridiculous Eating Device)

There’s another Shelby too. The P51 is the easiest to use.
