These Ale hen Kuksa are inspired by contemporary Viking style long boats.

Seen here with the three principle bushcraft tools I use for my folk art.
And a much needed bottle.
These folk art carvings take approximately three days to complete.
They are knife finished.

One of my Beaver tail Kuksa and an apple spoon.
The Spalted Beech plate was turned by my good friend Sean Hellman.

That’s obsessive work right there! I love it - I bet you have an intimate relationship with your tools and the wood you work on. Lots of treen ware out there but this work really shouts an individual signature.

Hi Yarrow.
As you may know, I limit myself to the three principal bushcraft tools and a couple of stumps.
Although the tools are simple, I learn each day some thing new about a technique for their use.
I enjoy the challenge this folk art brings, and I'm hopeful that I'll keep on learning.
Cheers for coming on by.

Hi Chris.
Good to hear from you.
Yes. I received my invitation for the Wilderness Gathering a while ago now.
I'm hoping to set up somewhere near Kevin and his Endicott surplus store.
I'll see you there baring pestilence or pox.
Cheers for now.

Hi Albus.
Sat in the kitchen with coffee in a smaller Beaver tail and Irish fruit cake.
I'm hopeful that I can get behind the axe later this morning.
I have a set of Kuksa to make for a commission.
Thanks for popping by.

Ok Two Socks.
I'll post some edited tutorials in the next few days.
As this is Devon, that may mean weeks.... I'll sort something soon though.
Best wishes.

I do hope so bb07.
That's why I started my blog some years ago.
I wanted to write simple tutorials to encourage.
I like the idea of bushcrafters sitting round a fire, with friends, carving folk art with basic tooling.
Keep at it my friend.
