Well another excellent meet despite the low numbers. We got loads covered this weekend from shelter building to net making and the weather wasnt as bad as I was expecting it to be.

It was great to try out Chances adze something I would certainly be looking into getting myself. Seeing Mark put that basket together from the awkward rushes was impressive, and Andys and Chazs instruction on net making allowed me to have a great example to take home.

We learned a lot from building and sleeping in the shelter next time will know how to improve it. I also have to look into the newly discovered "plummeting slug species" lol.

Not sure if I can handle anymore Haggis for the next year or two

Thanks to Pandabean, CharlesLockerbie, Piers, Chance and Mark for attending and sharing your skills.

Looks like you saved the best until last! Wish I'd been there for the rushes; hope I'll be there to catch up at the next one.

(no photos of the totem actitvity for BCUK-NES-3: tree-tangling with bolas?)

The unidentified beastie is...a lacewing larva :) Probably a late instar Brown Lacewing (Micromus spp); lacewing larvae are carnivorous and feed on all kinds of harmful insects, such as aphids, that damage plants. Lacewings are sometimes cultivated and set free in green houses to consume the aphids on cucumbers and tomatoes, in order to cut down on the use of pesticides.

Sorry that I couldn't make it over on the Sunday; the spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak! Now....I have answered the question and claim my free prize...any haggis left..? lol :p

A'ra best,

DM ;)

Thanks Doug, I am sure we can find some haggis for you. I guess next time, if we have an extra body, it might need to be a an extra tin. ;)

Thanks Tank, we try to fit in what skills we have, so there were a few other things that we went over but it doesnt appear that any photos were taken such as the Bolas.

ROFL, We should have done a video tutorial of that one.

I wish I had photos of the rest of the skills you stated Chance there certainly was a lot put into the weekend.

Oh and about that table Andy :p lol

So highly effective was the "passive crowd control" that they didn't come back the next night either. I wonder if they've been back at all :)
