Not sure I'd want anything that would make it to easy. Part of the fun is the challenge I think. Mind you saying that I hate being bitten by bugs so anything that creates a null zone around new to keep the lil biters off me would be nice.

An old Palm III makes a pretty good ebook. Robust and cheap - and you can fit a good few books in there. Even using the backlight, I get 15+ hours out of a pair of AAs.

A combined bivvi bag/sleepingbag/hammock system, that could be used on the ground or slung between trees

Isnt this just a DD travel hammock with a sleeping bag lol

Me personally it woulld be a way to instantly sterilise water with no funky tastes!!

I'd like a small pet dragon. It'd be handy for carrying your stuff and getting the fire going.

oooh a "stop and smell the roses" device.... yes I'd like one of those. Ideally it would have a pause button on for any wildlife I spot that is normally gone by the time the wife and kids shout "where?"

A decent gps system tailored for bushcraft, obviously have all the normal tools a gps should have.
But also a social networking system for bushcrafters that can do the following
  • Meet other bushcrafters in close proximity

  • Leave useful waypoints to other such as an unused camp emergency supply shelters and so on.
  • Have a news section built into it containing upcoming meetups and courses
  • Waypoints with ratings to sum up the bushcraft eperience there

If such a wonderful device existed, accessing the bushcraft community would be far more effective.

For those whom would criticise having a gps with them, turn the gps off and use the rest of the services.

This probly wont happen but it wold be nice if gps manufacturers would make plugins or add ons to their devices for communities such as bushcraft and bushcraft related POIs.
