I was going to grab breakfast at Morrisons first thing if anyone wants to join me :D

I'll probably get there for 9. For those that don't know me, just look for a big beardy bloke with a mohawk, I'm not hard to spot :D

I'm not going to make it on site until Saturday, I have to teach on Friday night :(
Will be there from 11 ish on Saturday morning so if anyone is still up for a tracking walk we can do it then. Try not to trample over muddy areas and tread on all the nice tracks til I get there!!!! :D

Eeeerm, I don't think any of us will be there before Saturday morning Rho, that's when it's planned to start :D

10/10 for enthusiasm though :)

Phewww!!! I thought I'd got my dates mixed up for a minute.

Incidentally, I was talking to the landowner on Tuesday evening and he speaks very highly of young Nightwalker, his words not mine. You now have a reputation to live up to Ashley. :)

Crickey  a reputation! Of what being young? Yeah im sure I can live up to that one ;) :p

Im just sorry to all that I haven't had more time to dedicate to planning a little more to this meet, I've just been immensely busy with work lately :( and I cant wait for this break now. :)

A couple of things about the meet; I will be bringing a few firesteels & a friction/bow set for people to try if they wish, if anyone could help out by bringing some nice dry tinder (dried grass, anything fine and easily teased) would be a great help, of course we can source some locally but it might save some time if numerous people want to have a go. On the note of fire, does anyone have a Firepiston? I've not seen one used in person.

Also we will be setting a couple of eel traps in the lake and could do with some good bait, so a bit of a strange request, lol, only if your comfortable with doing such a thing: when driving about on the friday or even saturday morning drive to the place if you could keep an eye out for any road-kill rabbits (or smaller) and bag them up and bring them along, that would be great. Again no pressure or expectancy for you to bring dead animals! Only if your comfortable doing so ;)

Also; I've just received a new digital-video camera today that I will be using for my NaturalBushcraft videos!.. would everyone be comfortable with me bringing it on the weekend? I might do a spot of filming as I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, of course I will ask permission before filming anyone! And just let me know if your not comfortable with it.

Could everyone please check the list of who's coming here: http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/bushcraft-events and just check I've got everybody.

All the best,

I've got some lovely dry birch bark and loads of Cramp Balls I'll bring, enough for anyone who wants to have a go. We could also make some char cloth. Also I'll keep my eyes out for roadkill.

I'll also happily do a 'building a pop can stove' demmo, for anyone who wants to have a go at that. If anyone does, then please bring a can of drink with you (standard size or beer can size ;) not the thin 'Red Bull' ones). If you want to cook on it, you will need to also bring a metal pan/container (an empty bean tin will do just fine), and some methelated spirits for fuel. It would also help a great deal to have a small pair of scissors (I use the ones on my SAK), as it makes the job much easier in the field than trying to do it solely with a knife (and safer).

Just to clarify guys, are you meeting at Morrison's then? If so, it makes sense for me to straight to Woodland Valley, although I'm still more than happy to meet some people at McDonalds if it helps.

I won't be online much passed 9.30 tonight but if you like you can let me know and I'll PM you my mobile number.

Thanks for the crampballs & demo Justin, sounds great. I actually planned to make some charcloth whilst I was there, I've got a bag full of denim, people can nab some off me to make there own if they want. I only make small amounts in a .22 pellet tin but I think I wana try something a little larger this time.

bit of a bum. had to go to my grandads funeral this week (3 days in london) so got behind with a mountain of work. will try and pop up over the weekend, even if only for a couple of hours, but if I don't manage to make it, have a fantastic time and hopefully catch up with you guys at SMARTY's. If I do manage to find the time to come down, and you need supplies, then get Rhoda to give me a bell and I'll try to sort it out.

I anyone else bringing kids?

You're bringing your children?? If so, I might be able to persuade my 10 year old to come along maybe for the day or even for the night with her hammock. The only reason I haven't suggested it as I didn't think anyone else was bringing theirs.

Why not meet at McDonalds at 0945 then? It's a short drive from there to the site.

Yes, we're only coming for the day on Saturday, not over night. It would be great for another girl to be there. My Sophie is 8.
