DIY Tarp. Tie outs or grommets?

I'm making an 8 x 8ft tarp from canvas (which I'll waterproof later).

I am thinking about adding either grommets or tie outs at 8 inch intervals along the edge.
With a ridge line of tie outs.

What are people's opinions of grommets or tie outs? Or both? I will be reinforcing the corners and edge where any tie outs will be.

Tie outs spread the load better than grommets in my experience, and are easy to make if you've got the sewing machine out

+1 Never liked grommets for attaching cord to, okish for pegging down but tie outs do both so tie outs win!

2 choices; tie-outs or tie-outs.

You could use d-rings but they are, effectively, tie-outs.

on non-DIY things I've frequently pulled out grommets [maybe I'm not using them correctly?? or maybe expecting too much of them] and tie out's tend to be stronger.

On DIY stuff I put tie-outs on.
