Studying full time at Uni grad level can be difficult. Even more so at post grad level.
The vast majority of people your age work, have a good economy, go on holid@ys, have fun after work, while you are poor as a rat, are stressed and and do home study in your free time.

Wander, if you quote, maybe you should quote correctly without cutting bits out ?
The ‘you’ does not apply to Tengu as you try to twist it, it is a generalisation, applies to many, if not most, Uni students.

Maybe you will understand if I write differently:

The vast majority of people of the age of a (post grad) students work, have a good economy, go on holidays, have fun after work, while the students are poor as rats, are stressed and do home study in their free time.

Do you have any advice to Tengu, or did you just post to make me look bad?

That is 100% not what you originally wrote Janne, definitely not.

You are trying to twist what you wrote.

Not good at all.

I could be wrong, but I think the advice Janne is giving is, that in order for students to be able to cope financially as well as reducing the stress of studying, is to do some sort of part time work which earns some cash and therefore relieves the financial stress, as well as giving the student a bit of time away from the stress of studying, I was a bit fortunate myself as i obtained my degrees, whilst working full time, and doing the degrees on 3 nights a week(part time), I found it quite easy and had no financial difficulties, the thought of coming out of Uni with a massive debt nowadays, as well as the difficulty in finding a good paying position, would in my opinion not be worth the effort, unless one was going into the medical profession,.

I was a uni student for nearly 10 years. Got three degrees and a long-lasting career out of that.
Very little debt as student loans.
Fadcode and Janne are right = must organize the cash flow. Must have some income.
Maybe that needs some devotion away from studies, so be it. It's a means to an end.

Not sure about this thread, considering the other thread Tengu posted today, but I believe that in UK you can apply for various grants?

Internet search, somebody at the Uni that can help?

I was lucky that I only had to take a 100% student loan for 5.5 years but managed to find spot work during my post grad ( 2 years)

My other post grad studies I did while I worked.
Had I taken a loan there I would be still paying it off.

I hope we gave you some useful ideas, Tengu!

I was fortunate. When I was still a teenager living with Mama she drew Social Security based on Daddy’s benefits before he died. That pension was temporary and tied to her raising me as a widow (although she still worked at the same nursing career she had held all her adult life. The mere fact that I went from high school straight into university was what qualified her to claim me as a “dependent” and continue drawing said pension even after I reached legal age. That said, that pension went entirely toward my tuition and fees until it stopped when I enlisted. After that the Air Force paid the vast majority of my tuition and fees for my off duty courses to finish my degree.

So I’m not about to criticize Tengu or anybody else who’s trying to make it without those resources I had.

I made Dad a capote to use as a dressing gown. He will be warm now.

(actualy his house is toasty)

He was a bit....underwhelmed.

However he is like me; not always much good at expressing how he feels.

So that is ok.
