Burdocks fine - and you'll have no worries as long as you ID it by the sticky buds. Go for the first year growth as this is the best - but I have eaten second year and its ok especially roasted or soaked and then fried like chips.
not tried it yet because there's only a few plants in my area, thought the first year's growth didn't flower or set seed?

It doesnt but Starfury can ID it by the second year growth and will then know what to look for.
Or he can even take the seed heads and plant his own - safe as houses that way.
