on meet ups the fair may not be every ones cup of tea and you have to pay to get in

looking on the map and plotting a few locations

Bere Regis seems to be centralish but i have no idea on a good pub for a evening etc
then we can look to a bimble etc

There are 2 pubs in Bere Regis , The best one by far has to be the Royal Oak .
Not that i am sure if i can get to the wood fair yet , but is it worth meeting up and said pub ? That way we should at least recognise faces at the fair . I can do this weekend as mothers got the kids . I will give the landlord a bell if theres enough of us up for it , we may get the skittle ally !
Cheers

I'm busy every weekend for a few weeks now, so won't be able to meet up, unless its at the woodfair. As I said I'm not sure which day I'll be going yet, but I'll make sure I'm wearing my BCUK badge somewhere about my person ;) so if you see me then do come and say hello. I'll also try and seek out Dave Budd whilst I'm there.

Cheers

Rightho. My domestics now dictate that I'll be at the Cranborne Woodfair on Saturday the 20th. If any of you are there too on that day I'll meet you at Dave Budd's stand at 10:30.

Failing that, somebody suggest an evening in a pub somewhere in the Blandford/Bere Regis/Milton Abbas area.

Well, that was a rather pleasant weekend :)

Good to see some of the folk from here managed to get to the show and even find me! Though you were rather like ships in the night: the largest group of BCUK members I saw was 3!

I think that the Cranborne Cahse Woodfair will be a regular event since this one went so well :)

Good to see you there yesterday Dave, and $orryI wasn't able to meet up with the rest of you on Saturday. Did you manage to sell the necklace scrolly thing?

I thought the fair was excellent - lots of different things aimed at different groups of people, and well organised. The longbow demonstration was amazing, although I thought his first arrow was going to pierce the bonnet of one of the cars ;)

I've been to the South West Woodfair in Exeter a couple of times, but that's much more of a trade show than a fair. All-in-all A Grand Day Out :) I'll definitely be back.

well managed to get there eventually on sat morning and found Palmnut :D

think we missed Mace later on :(

was very good sort of what you would expect from and olden day town fair as such lots of local produce and crafts and lots of pole lathes etc old tool stores Dave even sharpened a couple of Choppers bought there i think
definatly a Nice lack of the usual Tat commercial stands you usually get :D

comedy bring your own Dog show and Spot the Falcon that flew off from the arena :lmao:

havent seen Log Chopping in an arena for many years including going up with the planks to chop the top off (I remember that was a racing sport on the telly years ago )
some big blokes with Big axes and huge logs :D very shiny very sharp
Adams Axemen from Dorset

Thought Red was there as the Chainsaw carver was doing some kin Big Acorns from 30" oak

Even got a free energy saving light bulb
Which was Nice :D

appologies for not getting to the fair , it would have been cool to meet up with a few more BCUkers.
Mothers decided to have the kids this weekend coming , so anybody fancy a bimble ? Or maybe a spot of geocaching ? There are quite a few in wareham forest .

We did miss each other - mostly to me being blind as a bat (honestly I can spot tiny insects and deer tracks but I missed a whole stand!!!). I did have a good time - the weather was superb.

Well I will be off to the moots later in the year so I'll see everybody then I'm sure.

Here's a funny thing - I've never met Dave before and not looked at his piccy on his site. So I'm thinking - iron working - forges - anvils - picture of some huge Thor like blacksmith... erm.... whoops... (Hope you're not too upset there Dave :D )
