It may have been a bit windy and wet... but is that not normal English winter weather? To be honest were I am I barely noticed it. I've certainly known worse which never had a name. Next they'll be naming heatwaves! To me it's scaremongering. I love a wild and windy day. Perfect kite flying weather.

Now it's funny you should say that Woody girl...Anticyclone 'Fluffy' is forecast to creep gently into the South-West in June with temperatures expected in the high 20's. :D

Woke up an hour ago, by high winds. We get those ‘mini storms’, usually very early in the morning. Storm gusts, rain, lasts from a few minutes to maybe one hour.

I designed our house with a standing seam Alu roof as I love the sound of rain on roofs.

I think I will call it Jeremy. The next one that wakes me up will be Tessy.

And I need to issue a Red Warning to wife, so she understand the perils of stepping outside as the front steps might be wet and slippery.

You should take it seriously folks. I orderd a new waterproof jacket specifically for the latest storm but I couldn't go out as it may have got wet.
I'm now worried about this heatwave predicted for June. Should I buy a giant fan and start storing jerry cans of water in case the reservoir drys up? .......or grab my shorts , sunhat and slapiton and head to the beach!

You should be prepared so you can sit it out smugly instead of running around like a headless chicken trying to find the last anti hurricane lamp. I have one for each room and two spares. I could sell you one for £100:D

My goodness! Are we not a cynical lot.! I've just been out for a potter and to get some milk. The moment I closed my front door the light winds got a bit fresh and you could hear it roaring in the tree tops. A big black cloud hovered menacingly over them and woosh a hailstorm lasting at least 30 seconds. Why didn't someone warn me!!!!! All sunny again now I'm back inside. On with the sock knitting.... must get a rocking chair and tie my hair up in a bun.

Honestly every time they forecast a bit of snow, sorry 'arctic blast' or 'beast from the east' every shop in Buxton could pass for an east German supermarket. It's like going in Morrison's on Christmas eve.

Bloody humans

At the risk of straying into (very sensibly) forbidden territory, those publications somewhat hysterical attitude to the weather is probably because most of it comes from overseas! ;)
How come, these are Brit publications and the ‘reporters’ are British?

British reporter, Met Office....

I do not know where this weather hysteria started, UK or US? Similar over the top reporting.

The US Weather Channel is better than Mothy Python.

Got you!

Yes, those pesky foreigners send a lot of clouds over Britain...

We get the same here, butit mainly comes from the South, except those weird mini storms during winter, they are originating in North - East.
:)

She was Churchill’s relative of some sort?
I hope the Met Office does not plan to call the ‘ D’ wind ‘Diana’ ?
