Folk may find this video interesting. I found it very informative and a bit comforting actually, because I always filter then boil my water, which may account for why the 'ol boy hasn't croaked with some obscure water borne disease long ago..

It's the bacterial spores that are worrying. We were always instructed to only trust boiled water for 24 hours if the conditions were above 10C. The reason being that the spores 'hatch' after a period of time and that there is a potential cascade effect after 24 hrs. To remove spores water must be pressure heated above 137C. Of course, most people forget to tell you about the time limit of boiled water :)
