Picked my hammock up this morning from the PO.

Also included what I think is a sleeve for it. Was not expecting that.

Cheers Sandbag.

This hammock is for my daughter who is 7 soon to stop her knicking my hammock when we are camping.

Now to modify it like my own.

Cheers

George

Hi Sandbag,

Now that I have the hammock from you, I have read various things about the hootchie / basha tarps not being large enough for dry hammock camping - so if I am not too late, can I now get one of the 3 x 3 DD tarps please?

what mods do you do?

Just got back from using my own DD Frontline hammock this weekend. The wind really tested it. This morning I was in Ashdown Forest and there was a real hooly blowing through.

My modifications are to add tabs to the sides to attach shock cord to act like a spreader (similar to the Hennessy.

Also I have permanently attached two pieces of old tent poles to the mossie net rather than attach sticks every time.

I have also made baffles for each end of the hammock as when the rain is coming in horizontally the hammock gets soaked. I used my Mountain Hardware tarp this weekend as the severe weather warning was issued as it is smaller than my usual tarps and shaped for the wind. The rain was horizontal and the wind was gusting over 40mph so the baffles really helped.

(This picture was taken a while ago)

The only othe modification was to replace the tape and use them as tree huggers. At the ends of the hammock some old rope was used to attach a karabiner that attach to the tree huggers. I now use two karabiners on each side as is shown in the DD site.

Cheers
