Well Saturday went well. Thank you Bigbear for cutting all the wood up. A very big thank you to Tim for his two talks, both were very informative. Sorry that I couldn't stay for the full weekend.

As has been said a great weekend, well structured lessons & nicely presented, I personally quite like the way that military personel teach/demonstrate, clear concise & key points emphasised, I especially like the comedy endings ;-)

I think Tim has convinced me to trade out my jiffy bag for everyday med's to an otter box as well, as mine contains a couple of pastes & creams I guess I can always drop the box into a zip-lock for airport clearance.

Good to put some faces to names as well, and next time if I'm not casseroling I'll try to get down to the fire earlier to socialise & I might even remember some of your names.

I've dined like a king and drunk like a lord :)
but I ain't looking forwards to my next visit to the weighing scales :-(

Thanks to Adz, Nick & co. as well for putting in the effort to get the chute up (& down) + wood processed & to Ian for persevering with this site in the first place.

Thanks to Chis as well, both for his company, his contributions to eating like a lord, digging the Dakota & the use of the dutchie, etc next time he might even bring his appetite LOL "you've done for me Vandeen Ahm absolutely poggled int a canna move" wel if two grown blokes can't do in a dutchie full of stew then there's sommat the matter ;-) especially if I'm one of said blokes

Till the next time.

Perhaps the mushrooms were eaten by that pig I kept hearing squeal....................
And in reply to Vandeen, I wholly endorse the idea of ready use items being in an "ouch pouch" as when out with kids on D of E I need plasters and Compeed a lot but rarely need to go into my full FAK and it's great having them plus needs like antihistamines quickly to hand. Useful sessions both, if we cannot learn something then it's time to nail the lid down !

I hope you and chis ate them mushrooms? :p

.
We did indeed, thanks for donating them:)

I tried some of eAch raw, the chunky white ones were crunchy and had quite a rooty flavour. Next we lightly fried them in a little oil first of all to appreciate the flavour, the chunky white ones were'nt as nice as the others. Then we sliced up all but one or two of the rest and added them to the casserole, again the white ones didn't come out ad well as the others, and.were getting on for chewey.

Can you remember their names?

Indeed, thanks to all who came for making it a cracking, entertaining and informative weekend. Its nice to put names to faces. Although I have a memory like a sieve so will take a couple of meets before I usually remember combinations of real names with usernames etc.

Special thanks to Bluffer for his demo's, Bigbear for his chainsaw/cutting of wood for us, Tom/Mick for giving hand with getting chute up before arrivals and JonnyB and Neanderthal for helping take it down. If I have forgotten anybody I apologize, I'm shattered.

We did have a Ray Mears book for a raffle prize (funds go to meet kitty) but I forgot to do raffle on Saturday so will be doing it at next meet.

Although next meet would usually have been in January, some people expressed a interest in a possible Xmas/December do. I have asked owner and he has ok'd it so may go forward with this. If we did, what date do you guys think would be best, 6th, 13th or 20th?

Sorry, fully committed to things this side of crimbo but up for a january meet.

No worries bud, will see you in new year. Have a good Xmas :)

Personally 13th would be good for me :) camping in the woods on Friday the 13th ey :)

lol, Cant believe I didn't notice that. We will have to keep and eye on Chis with his machete then in case he has urge to don a hockey mask as well. Or maybe my urge to play the "KKKK MO MO MO MO" sound effect from movie into woods early hours :D

... I especially like the comedy endings ;-)

Apart from almost slicing the tip of my thumb off at the very end of the knife safety tutorial (which did link in well with the first aid kit tutorial?!) I had a very relaxing and enjoyable night out :)

Great to meet everyone and see how they do things, got some ideas for next time.

Big thanks to all who made it a good meet, my mate loved it and will be joining the forum to check for further nights out. He did have me worried at one point when he asked if we had time to do some more spooning, but it turns out he meant spoon-carving because I'd thrown his spork into the stream.

I'll post tomorrow with links to some of the kit I demo'd because a couple of people asked about it.
