    Instructors required

I work with the other end of the scale (Older People) after many years working with the most difficult YP's in the country. Not only was it satisfying but enlightening, especially after being one of the worst myself. The thing is, when you have been bad, or worked with some client groups; you...

    Children and knifes

I've been to a few developing countries in my few short years. And when there it is commonplace to see kids as young as 3/4 handling machetes, very rarely do they have small knives as the machete is good for most jobs. I think if you grow up in an environment where a knife is seen first as a...

sleep outside in winter in nanok bags

Hi all, Just been reading through this list of posts, and the last test seemed really good. I think it was a little unfair though to pull the bally down over you face in one liner and not the other. As we lose over 20% of our body heat through our head (not just where we have hair, or not if...

    Wood uses database

An excellent website, in my favourites too. Only one thing I was a little unsure of: Sweet chestnut, the nuts are edible but to roast them it is easier to leave on the shell, just cut an X through one side of the shell. Keeps them cleaner, and they peel so much easier. Also cook more evenly...

    Compression sack advice

You could try your local surplus shop. Most have spare compression sacks lying round. If you have no luck with them, I would jsut get a large compression sack for about £6 from most stores. Sorry I couldn't give any specific dealers.

    Rivets Needed

I'm wondering could anybody help me out on this one. I have a sheath for a GB SFA, the rivets are in need of replacing like yesterday. Does anyone know anywhere near Liverpool or Manchester that sells small quantity rivets suitable for leather, so I can repair this sheath. Also any...

    question about fomes preparation....

Hi all, I'm far from an expert. But the Mrs doesn't like some stuff in the house. During a visit to a site in work, I dropped on and was guided to a vast fungi. So I dutifully removed it, and explained to her what could be done with it. So I hade a fomes in a binbag in the garden, which...

    Fishing Tackle

Hello Folks, I am trying to find a reasonably priced seat box, with leg levelling system and footplate. I'm not too fussy bout the brand, but dont want a cheap, nasty thing. I am willing to travel up to 100 miles from Liverpool, to collect. If you have a friend, family member or know...

Why the hell did I bother!

Woaw, Lending kit, for me is a BIG NO NO. In the forces, lent some danner boots out, went on leave returned to find them in bits. The guy used them in the gun park changing engines in APC's. Trangias with dents, holes, soot and gunk all over. Knives full of food, bit of grit and sand...

    strange design possibly usefull blanket?

From the description, it seems like the unusual (chest??) strap, maybe be for compressing the folded article, and carried like a rucksack??? Maybe when folded correctly the oter two handles meet for hauling the article around??? Maybe it is a emergency picnic insulation pod, from a mail...
