    DIY/Polynesian Skills/Crafts

Thanks Jojo. The Polynesian Voyaging Site is interesting, thanks. What I'm specifically looking for is the native skills used by Polynesian islanders to survive. Any and everything from fire making to food procurement, housing, culture, et al. I realize that each island group was different but...

Guy trying to walking from UK to India gives up in Calais

Sandbender, sounds like a very interesting life. My hats off to you. :) Any more info on your wanderings you could share with us? I'm sure you could pass on some good bushcraft pointers, and quite a few interesting incidents/adventures... Cheers Alex(also a wanderer at heart) :)

    MultiTools

Hello all. Is there any issue with the authorities in carrying a multitool like a Leatherman, Sog Paratool, or Swisstool while visiting the UK? Knowing that carrying certain knives in the UK can be an issue, I was wondering if a multitool would be ok? Cheers Alex

    Oh Deer! Let me in.

Cat: " I am sorry my deer, but I can no longer see you, we must go our separate ways...we are just too different". Deer: "But my love, our daughter has your eyes... look into them and tell me she's not your daughter".

    Solo Bushcraft.

Always go solo. It is my chance to commune with Nature. After living in a large urban area my batteries are worn out. Going back to nature where I may not see another person for a week or two recharges them. I'm paraphrasing badly, and can't remember where I heard this, but the wilderness is my...

    Imagine Money Were No Object...

Shewie, I don't understand why, but it seems difficult for folks from the UK to emmigrate over here. Without sounding political or biggoted, we let in over a 1/4 million riff raff from everywhere each and every year, yet, considering that we(Canada) are still part of the Commonwealth you would...

    Imagine Money Were No Object...

Interesting. With money as no object, the vast majority of you decided buying huge gobs of land as most important, followed by time to enjoy it. Has anyone here on these forums thought long and hard on the idea of you all pooling your money together and buying a largish chunk of relatively wild...

    Breakfast

Easy one. Tea and oatmeal...been doing it for years. While my camping friends are hardening their arteries with an irish/ploughmans/american breakfast, I'm already off with my fishing gear at the lake catching trout for dinner. ;) Cheers Alex

    Bushcrafter or not?

Not sure. Just a name really. One could apply any appropriate name from where you come from to mean the same thing. Bushcrafter, outdoorsman, woodsrunner, ridgerunner, ranger, scout, bushman, swagman, courier de bois, voyageur, mountain man, plainsman,frontierman... To me they're all the same thing...

is the bushcraft dream over ?

I think what you say has some merit, but as long as there is some wild place left that is relatively accessable there will always be 'bushcraft' no matter what you name it. The challenge is to be bushcrafty in places Like L.A., New York, London, etc. Until they turn the whole world into one...
