    Alone in the Wild

Right. Time for some ranting. You need to bear in mind, he wasn't on established game trails, but in deep Yukon. IT could have taken him days to cover just a few miles. I've seen some deep American forest. When you consider his... rather fragile mental state.... it's easy to understand why he...

Homebrewers / Winemakers - a few questions about elderberry wine.

With double kits, it wouldn't be extra alcoholic, it would be extra bitter, that's all. This is perfectly normal hop-head behaviour, the rest of us brewers tend to smile and nod and let them get on with it. :D

    uk poisonus plants

Haha, so he was! They use it in heart medication, too. I'm pretty sure you can't difibrillate in digitalis toxicity. Don't remember why.

    uk poisonus plants

Amanita phalloides (Death Cap). This WILL kill you if ingested, even in relatively small quantities, unless you are fortunate enough to get a liver transplant very rapidly. There is no known antidote, and only a few supportive medicines that can "Improve survivability", but not neutralise the...

    Autumn/winter Beer?

www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk Brewing forum. I know several of us on here are all grain brewers and have at various stages frequented it. In short, birch sap can be used to make beer, and there's no reason you couldn't bitter it with rowan, nettles, or various other bushcrafty things. You can...

    Boletus ident needed please.

It looks a bit like B. Barrowsii, but according to Wiki that doesn't stain when cut. I'd leave it, if i were you! But then, i'm terrified of mushrooms... which is a shame because i love eating them!

    FAO Botanists!

Yeah, it was oak. I thought all the Galls were big blobby things, didn't realise they could be like that. I suspected a kind of Lichen, i must admit. I was really hoping that plant was self heal, i will look for it again. The flowers didn't look as droopy as it did in the pictures I've seen...

    Not Alone in the Wild

From what I understand encounters are pretty rare. Most of the horror is of course from the horror stories on the TV. I know there are a wide range of bear repellent and safety equipment you can acquire if you're spending real time in bear country. Most of it is just logic. They have a good...
