Guyot Designs 38oz stainless steel bottle

Looking for a Guyot Designs 38oz stainless steel bottle (or its Nalgene equivalent). New or used doesn't matter, as long as the bottle and lid are in good order. I've got tons of stuff to swap for, should anyone have a bottle they're willing to part with. Just name what you're looking for, and...

    Iisakki: Jarvenpaa Aito Puukko

Got one with the bark handle. The handle is great. Warm and grippy even in the most wet or cold weather/situation. The blade shape is fantastic, but the steel is a bit so-so. A bit too soft for my taste, and the factory grind was not the best. The sheath is a bit cheap. Overall I like the knife...

    Advice on jungle footware needed

Looks like any and all types of boots/shoes have been used with some success in the Borneo jungles. The important bit seems to be traction and the ability to dry quickly. I don't fancy walking in wellies (done enough of that in the Swedish mountains), so I'll probably look for either jungle...

Can't find the HI-Tec Magnum Jungle Boot proper when I Google it. I find a lot of other models, but unfortunately not that one. Or is a different model commonly referred to as the "Magnum Jungle Boot"? During my search, I found this...

    Advice on jungle footware needed

That's quick and good advice, thanks! So, it seems like jungle boots is the way to go. Any idea where I can find the Magnum jungle boot? I'm guessing nowhere near Switzerland, i.e. no chance to try them on for size. / Karl

    Advice on jungle footware needed

Going on a 2 week bushcraft course to the jungle on Borneo at the end of April. An amazing christmas gift from my lovely girlfriend. However, before leaving to the jungle, I would need some advice regarding footwear. Is "the one and only" thing to wear on my feet the classic jungle boot, seen...

    POLL: Should bushcraft get professional?

One of these would certainly make bushcrafters stand out from the crowd, thereby giving us more of a group identity. And at the same time showing that we're all "Safety First" minded. [/IMG] / Karl

    Fire in rain

Les Stroud (aka Survivorman) swears by putting a large chunk of punky wood on top of his fire to keep it sheltered and going through heavy rain. He's using this technique in several of his Survivorman episodes, with good result every time (at least what's shown). I've personally got no...

self-inflating camping mats - worth the extra?

The older I get, the more comfort I need to get a good nights sleep. Started out with a cheapo closed cell mat, and slept well on that. Mind you, I always had to "un-crick" all of my joints in the morning. "Found" the Thermarest about 15 years ago, and there was no going back to the cell mat...

Asa Samuel asked, "How often do you go on trips out ?"

I guess like most people here, my correct answer would be: "Not as often as I would like". That fits with the sad reality, forcing me to tick the "every other week" box. / Karl

    Natural Anti-Slug.

Toddy, I've got pretty much the same soil and dampness situation as you on my patch. Have you tried using wood ash as slug repellant? It has to be old ashes, though (as in, maybe a year old or so), so as not "burn" the plants. Works pretty well for me. / Karl

    Bergen reccomendation

What johnboy said. One more vote for the Vulcan after 15 years of only good experience from using one. Just make sure you get the correct size for your back length. It does pay off to go try out the different sizes in a shop before you spend your cash. / Karl
