Same here, I often get bitten by things, I got a horsefly bite on my calf a month ago. Ended up ulcerated and had to see a wound nurse. It’s still not healed properly.
Thanks for this, I've had a quick scan and it looks amazing, I'll have a proper read once I've left work.
The rest of the site looks interesting too, especially the deep bunker stuff, love it.
Have you been to hack Green?
I’ve got a copy of ‘threads’ on dvd. It’s fasinating, I did a module during my OU degree in the ‘prescriptions of nuclear strategy’, I’m obsessed with it still after all these years.
It’s outstanding! Recently voted the highest scoring tv series in history on IMDb etc.
I’ve got today’s episode downloaded on my tablet, I’ll be going to the pub with my dog later to watch it.
Ah I see Sir
The general licence is revoked, so it’s not legal to use the GL to control birds other than corvids.
Bird control can be carried out regardless of the GL, this is what makes a joke of the Natural England ‘rules’.
What attitude? It was legal to control birds because of crop damage, nothing has changed, the crops are still being damaged.
It’s not only my advice, it’s farmers that have drilled 100’s of acres of spring peas that are now blue with pigeon and will yield nothing.
It’s worth the fine to...
Or you could do what most landowners around here are doing and ring natural England and say I’m shooting regardless and I’ll take the potential fine.
The chances of being prosecuted is negligible. It’s a paper exercise, we know it, NE know it, the police know it.
The new GL for corvids is now available on Natural England's website, the GL for pigeon isn't released yet. So, no you cannot use the GL for controlling anything but crows at this time.
You can however apply for a licence in the interim period if you really need to control anything else...
Shooting pigeon for food has never been legal, you have to comply to the GL rules, killing them for food isn't on there.
The crow GL is now out and available to use, not sure why the pigeon GL is taking so long.
As much as I dislike lamb, I agree, hogget is the way forward, it is far better.
My choice is venison, Chinese water deer, abundant, easy to shoot and simply the best deer to eat.
I’m rather fond of pigeon, but that’s a mute point at the minute!
Healthy? Without eyes?
In the short time I’ve been on this forum I’ve noticed you are a clever person.
This is a common phenomenon with corvids in the uk. I want to sell decent, market weight animals, injuries mean the loss of the animal. Vet fees for things I can’t treat make the animal a loss.
Birds of prey are generally not shot on the uk, there’s not a lot of them compared to pigeon numbers.
Supply and demand isn’t that simple.
The higher price paid for lower yields are not passed onto the primary supplier, hence why we sold the dairy cattle, it cost us more to produce milk than...
Air rifles are brilliant, however a 1000 pigeons on a field in a morning will lawnmower crops, the one or two popped off isn’t effective pest control.
10 shooters with shotguns conveniently spaced will be more effective.
