    Swiss Army style knife suggestions?

Mags is right. The only Vic pin I have is the one that came with my Swisschamp. All the others are from the wife's pin cushion!

Survival is all about a good cup of tea

I'd love to see pics of everyone's tea or coffee kits. We usually pack a pocket rocket stove, a ton of tea bags and some powdered creamer when we go out on hikes with the Boy Scouts. Great morale booster, especially in the rain ☔!

Survival is all about a good cup of tea

Great thread! Can't beat a hot cuppa to put a smile your face and take the chill away. I still remember using a little hotshot stove to hear up water for a cup of instant coffee when I was out in the field in the Army. It wasn't the best tasting cup in the world but it sure brought a little...

    Swiss Army style knife suggestions?

I'm a huge SAK fan too, but I never saw Boker's lineup. How are the back springs strength wise? My son collects different traditional knives and has some Bokers. Some of his seem a little weak in that area.

    Defenders

That's good to know. Discoverys are a lot more common here in the States, and more reasonable. For years, I did my own work on my VW Campmobile, and still have a good selection of tools. I'd like a vehicle that I can do my own maintenance on. Are the later models as user friendly?

    Knife snobbery

Ha!! Mags, after my last purchase (Swisstool), I almost had to move in with your boat crew!! :lmao:

    Swiss Army Knife Magnifying Glass

Ha! I spent a number of years in the "liquid sunshine" end of the States so I understand! :lmao: John, that's pretty accurate...held slightly away, approx. 3-4 cm from tinder, and with the right amount of sunlight it will do it. I have a Swisschamp, Woodsman and Explorer that I love nothing...

    Defenders

I would absolutely love to have a Defender! Here in the States they are a rare breed, and pretty pricey.

    Knife snobbery

I'm a huge SAK guy and have one with me daily, as well as an Opinel of some sort. I'm of the opinion that whatever works for you is good enough! I'm married with 2 sons at home, and run into enough trouble with my SAK and multitool collecting with the wife, let alone getting a custom knife...

Daytrip - what do yOU carry?

A quart of water, a SAK, some powerbars or a pack of M&Ms, and a daypack to keep it all in. With all that space, I usually throw a compass and spare socks in too.

Opinel No. 2 - Have you got one?

No, but i'd love to try one! I've a No. 6 that I carry in my shirt pocket, two No. 9s (a Bricolage and a Carbone), and two No. 8s ( a Carbone and an Outdoors Inox). My wife, forever the Vic Classic user, was impressed by the 8, so I was thinking about picking up a 2 to slip in her bag.
