    'de-militarising' a smock - ideas sought

Careful, you could end up with faux fox, and that would just make people's brains hurt (the English phrase "fox's paw" is the anglicised version of "faux pas").

North Downs Way Hike: August 2017

Thanks for that - part of the reason I got into bushcraft was to allow me to do 50 mile walks with a minimum of gear. Not only was it fun to read, but you have just saved me from making a couple of mistakes, and given me some more ideas too :)

    Easy Hammock

Thanks - I'd be happy with a company that can do a repair service, particularly in the U.K.

    Easy Hammock

Have you got a hammock where the mosquito net completely unzips? Over the weekend, my dog exited through the net on my DD Frontline and life would be sooo much easier if I could just buy a replacement net to replace the one with the 18 inch gash in it :(

    LifeSaver Seat Belt Cutter?

I know it wasn't quite what you were asking for, but I particularly like the glass breaker on the ResQme - if I ever come across a dog suffering in a hot car, I may accidentally trip and stumble with my keys in my hand. Oops! And the seatbelt cutter on the key ring means I'll have it to hand...

    LifeSaver Seat Belt Cutter?

Me too - I bought one each for me and the wife. Easy to carry on a keyring.

    Feather sticks.

I misread it and thought it said 'sounds like turtles' and then thought it was Paul Kirtley you were referring to!

You haven't got a topquilt in development do you?

    BCUK Updates

Any luck? I'm still not getting confirmation messages, either to my btinternet account or my gmail account (I registered a second account just in case I had fat-fingered the first) One comment - the registration process only asks for the email address once, so it's possibly more prone to finger...

    Worst case scenario

From medics I know, they say that doctors are generally trained to deal with situations where all of the tools are to hand and ready to deploy. First responders are trained to deal with incidents in the field and to stabilise the patient so that they get to a hospital alive. At the same time...

    Cheap compass recommendations please.

I've got one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N3QB501/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00) to go along with my Silva Ranger. I've taken the same readings with both and they seem fine, with the added advantage that the Funtalker has adjustable declination. I've not tried it out an about...

    BCUK Updates

I wasn't expecting to file a bug report quite so soon :)

I tried to register but there are no emails, even though I tried twice. There's nothing in my spam trap either.

Clothing, a stove, a couple of cutting tools and a brilliant rucksack...

Sorry, I don't seem to be able to edit that - I just meant to point out that the advert was pretty unlikely to still be relevant as it was just over a year old.

Seriously, from an advert a year ago???

Ah, but we love them anyway :D

    Hi from Suffolk

I've been on the Facebook group for a while, but there's nothing like the ability to search back through the archives in proper forums, not to mention that you get to cross paths with even more people, so I signed up on here a couple of days ago. Now I've slowed down my hoovering through past...

    1st time tarp help

I've just bought some 4l dry bags. My 3x3 tarp and my frontline hammock fit in that size nice and snugly, with the advantage that you can compress them as you do them up and you will be surprised just how much smaller you can squash them down.
