    Alternatives to DMT Diafold sharpener

Fallkniven dc3 or4 might suit? Spyderco double stuff? Spyderco sharpmaker rod? I use the diamond rod and medium rod quite often on garden tools. Years ago I got a file that uses strip abrasive from Axminster, and it's very good.

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

It's very hard to make bad coffee with an aeropress. Remarkably tolerant of everything. Otherwise, bialetti for strong Italian, esprit for best cafetiere.

    Von Tempsky Bowie

I've got one. Very heavy. Very solid. Handle not a good shape. Still a nice thing though. How about a junglas? Much lighter, better handle, still solid. Although not a Bowie, I rate the skrama 240. Money no object? busse, swamp rat might be your friends.

    Wood splitting wedge edges

No one going to mention a froe? The tool, not the haircut of a toolDefinitely the tool for controlled splits. I think the long handle to lever helps. I also have an 18 inch mini sledge (from Wickes) that is a really useful tool.

Experiences with Cold Steel SRK 3V?

Worth thinking about the varustelaka jakaripukko140 for about£50 or the fallkniven A1 if you want to spend your money? I really wanted an srk when they were cheap, but that seems a lot of money now.

    M.O.D Survival Knife mods?

My old one was pretty easy to grind. I dropped the angles on both side, extended the grind up the blade, dropped the back edge near the point a little, reworked the handle a little. Of course, I didn't have much choice, it had spent a few years in a plastic box which had filled with rain water...

    Carnivore only Diet

I eat lots of fruit, occasional raw veggies, meat in the same meal, though often have a piece of fruit before bed time. It's not about following rules, just what I enjoy, quick and easy.

    Carnivore only Diet

I eat mainly fruit and meat, by choice. I often eat an evening meal at 8pm, bowl of porridge an coffee at 6 am, nothing but water til evening meal, and never feel particularly hungry. If I have pasta or pizza, I'm starving by midday. Anybody mentioned Rabbit starvation?.

    What does you daybag contain?

Anybody else carry a blizzard bag? Sport for summer, main one for winter. Always have a plastic poncho, for other people. Got caught out last month, dog barking at squirrel up tree got his paw stuck between two trunks, grew together higher up,so no bending it and thinner one wrist thick. I had...

    Mahoosive overgrown rhododendron removal.

Hello, Woody girl, can I just ask roughly where you are now, I know your profile says from Exmoor, just wondered if you were still down there? If we knew where your tree is we might be able to lend a hand. A fairly cheap tool that might help is the Ryobi pole saw, cutting capacity is only about...

    Beware Wanted Scammers on Forum

It's a brave individual who decides to scam knife and firearms forums....it's always been so civilised (not to say heavily armed) around here

    Meindl Bhutan

Critically, meindl comfort fit boots give me the width I need for my broken little toes. Mine are 4 years old, and still going strong, so well worth the money.

    Lamnia....

Reports of what is or isn't getting shipped, from whom, charges and timescales would be very useful. Politics, and indeed politicians, not so much

Silky Saws - what's the difference between cheap and extortionate???

Pull saws in general cut faster as they are thinner. Silky saws are excellent, sharp, and fast cutting, leaving a good finish. Do check the tooth size. Bigger teath means faster cutting. Some identical saws are made with different size teeth. If you can get hold of shark saws, they were very...

    Multi use GPS units??

Bought my wife a cat smartphone. Pretty tough, waterproof, good battery life. Cameras ok. Worth a look, and they are much cheaper now than when I bought hers.

    The Perfect Raised Bed

Oh yes, and buy a chopsaw, possibly a sliding one,( cheap from Screwfix, still going strong) and use 5 X 100 torx head screws. I piloted everything with 2.5 mm holes. Getting the sides square was tricky, so as some wedges and plywood may be your best friends.
