    Luxe Sil-Hexpeak- First pitch (Successfully!)

yep, and it for those very reasons that I am mightily tempted to get one for my back up / summer tent, but as I found out last month, the top or even highish up on the fells, can be pretty unforgiving on a tent that is not quite upto the task :-), as my MSR ELIXIR 2 found out in 30 + Knot winds...

    Luxe Sil-Hexpeak- First pitch (Successfully!)

yeah, I have been checking out quite a few vids on youtube for the luxe series, I do like them a lot, however I have enough saved that I think the hilleberg soulo is going to be my number one tent when I buy it next month, but I am sorely tested to buy the luxe for my summer / half decent...

    Luxe Sil-Hexpeak- First pitch (Successfully!)

Hi Jurassic, just found this thread, I'm wandering if you still have the video, if you could reupload it, that link does not work now. I am just reading up on these tents, as I really really like the look of them, especially after my MSR Elixir got trashed in the wind the other week (about...

I got to handle a museum's Bren gun

was gonna say that looks remarkably like the old LMG, easy peasy bit of kit, nice to maintain too from what I remember, first day of small arms maint course, and we had LMG, gpmg, slr, smg & 9mm, stripped all the way down to the trigger sear retaining pins, and thrown in abucket of oil, told to...

    GPS Maps

true enough, I always carry a map and compass anyways, it just saves the hasle of trying to find your position in the wind and rain, and you dont need the covergae, so long as you get GPS coverage on your phone, you are sorted, which you do pretty much all over the lakes, as for draining the...

    Sleeping bag advice

depends on your definition of bulky, if you dont mind carrying a caravan on your back its okay, ha ha, only joking, but it is a decent size, takes up about 2/3-3/4 of a 50L rucksack, at least thats my definition of size wise

yeah, looks amazing, so wish I had done this with my kids when they were younger, instead of working away all the time, how easy it is loose track of the important things in life

    Staffy Free to good Home

personally I would jump at the chance to have another staffy, had a couple over the years and they are amazingly loyal loving dogs, however my beddlington terrier doesnt like to back down from anything, and he can be a bit of a handfull with others at times

    GPS Maps

try the viewranger gps, thats pretty good, free and very reliable ( doesnt crash), UNLIKE the OS maps app, it frustrates the hell out of me, the amount of times I have started tracking a good walk to have it crash on me and not record the route, for maps and details yes the OS maps is...

last couple of times I have went for MERU I would highly recommend that movie, climbers going up the last unclimbable mountain in the himalayas. I wont spoil it for you, but talk about testing the nerve, knowing your limits etc, well worth a shout out, true life documentary / movie
