    All Change!

Today was my last day of gainful employment - I am now fully retired and will subsist on no more than savings and the State Pension! I will have lots of time to enjoy myself and get things done that I have only dreamed about .. as long as the body and bank account hold out :) I have lots of...

A great Moot at a great new site

Well - I just got home and have almost finished unpacking - a 6 hour drive - and I am now about to start relaxing.... I do not think I have enjoyed a Moot more - chilling, seeing old friends, falling in love again (platonically - with Chaos and Mayhem :) )eating too much, drinking too much...

    Deer Poo ID help needed

Can someone help ID these droppings found at Castell Henllys two days ago? This is the first trace of deer on site, although Muntjac, Red and Roe have all been seen in the area on rare - very rare - occasions in the past. No trace of slots in the area but the ground is not good for taking prints...

    Thank you...

...to all (especially Tony, Shelly and all who create the Moot) who made my Moot memorable! I have some great memories, some mediocre photos and a shed load of projects to play with ... after the cleaning and packing up is done!

Trip Report A perfect weekend ...

I just got home from a weekend in the woods with my buddy Rolly. A great weekend made perfect by superb weather. We met on the Friday morning and put up our tarps by the fire area but decided that putting a tarp over the communal area would be a sin against the weather gods and enjoyed all of...

Do we have any hobbyist bowyers out there?

The reason I am asking is that I am looking for someone to quote me an idea of a price for making me a primitive bow - Holmegaard/Otzi/Star Carr -ish type thing - of only about 30lb at 28" in Willow or other hardwood found in Mesolithic or Neolithic Britain ... I tried starting making one myself...

    Stone Age bits and pieces...

My work now includes, not only interpreting the Iron Age for school kids, but also the Stone Age.... so a new costume is being made! So far I have made a fur cape (well - it is the back of an old fur coat held with a bone pin/limpet shell ring "penannular broach" type thing that I made ages ago)...

TO ALL MY GOOD FRIENDS HERE

Dear All Many thanks for all your "friend requests" on Facebook. Normally I do no use Facebook. Actually - I loathe Facebook! I only went on to nick some of Georges photos from the Moot of me as Prepper Pig, to show the Ty Hafan people how I raised the £700'00 for them. Other than nicking photos...

    From my BushMoot experience

Well - I am back home and fighting to get all my kit clean and put away but I found time to print off some of Georges Moot photos - the ones showing me in my Piglet costume and as Prepper Pig getting shot on the archery range - to show the folks at the Ty Hafan Children's Hospice when I handed...

    Day Out Preseli Top

After too many years of not hillwalking due to pain from knees and hips - plus a surgeon telling me both hips and both knees needed replacing - I finally had the courage to test how well my self treatment had worked by trying the 6 miles and 270m (up and down) of the "Rosebush Circuit" taking in...

    Great Spotted Woodpecker

The Great Spooted Woodpecker is one of my favourite birds and as well as having them visit my garden they nest in the local woods where I have perm to practice my Bushcraft. I have been watching the 'peckers in those woods for well over a decade and most years I have been able to locate the nest...
