    Version of the lap vice

Can anyone tell the noob what a lap vice is? I keep squinting at it, but I keep thinking 'spoony snow shoe', and I'm about 99% sure I'm wrong, heh.

Frost river arrowhead (roll top) backpack

http://well-spent.com/frost-river-arrowhead-trail-rolltop-bag/ I read a review on those packs that said they were actually the cheapest of their kind, by around $100. So I think even though they're hideously expensive, you're getting your money's worth, there.

    Space Problems?

Base weight at weigh-in yesterday was 22lbs. No food or water in there.

    Space Problems?

I don't know what rucksack you own, but when I first packed mine, my HIP strap sat somewhere around my upper thigh. Then I poked around and realised that the strap was length-adjustable, and a few inches of movement meant it fit me PERFECTLY (seriously it's like it was made for me, and I am such...

    Space Problems?

Interesting!!! I have found that I actually have a decent amount of room in my 65L after packing all the crap into it. The chap who sold it to me (who owns the men's version of the same pack), said that it's 65L but actually fits up to 70L thanks to the roomy top section. I believe that; I...

    Space Problems?

I did a weigh-in tonight, base weight is 22lbs, and it feels totally fine on my back :) (I'm like a mule: ask me to run and I'll probably kick you, but I'm not 'weak') I reckon me and old red here will get along just fine :) Oh and yes, I got me a pair of Black Diamond poles (they were on the...

    Space Problems?

The way I packed it in the pic below, I actually found I had about an inch diameter spare so if it did expand, or not roll up quite as well, it should still work (that being said, I do have a spare drybag if the need calls for it, it's a bit bigger and means I can still roll it with no issues.

    Space Problems?

Okay so I tried re-rolling it. It took me two attempts, but I got it in the original stuffsack, and lo and behold it's now sitting at the bottom of my pack: (Sorry about the wonky angle!) Seems okay now. All I need to do is make sure I remember how I did it! haha. Thanks for the help...

    Space Problems?

I'll give it a bash, will try anything at this point haha. I keep reading 'stuff not roll' and whatnot. So I stuffed. Don't stuff a Vango, it don't work lol

    Space Problems?

The poles/pegs ARE separate. This is my problem. It was the only tent available that I could afford (it was on sale, so reduced from its original price). I don't mind bulky, but there's bulky and then there's 'need a vehicles because you can't carry it' kind of bulky. There HAS to be a way of...

    Space Problems?

As I say it's a Vango Banshee, 200 I think? Just a 2 man tent, cos the 1 man was basically the same price (due to a sale) and tiny.

    Space Problems?

Okay to give some idea what I'm working with, here's some pictures: (that green bag is the tent. I managed to get about 75% of it into its original stuffsack, then the rest went in the dry bag. It took me ages. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CSe31wVWEAA4TuP.jpg That's a photo of my tent being...

    Space Problems?

So, I have a 65L rucksack. Huge, right? Well, I thought so until I started packing the damn thing. I have a Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag (I'm going to Scotland early next year, so having protection down to -7 C was vital), and, I bought a Vango Banshee 2-man tent (I wanted a tiny bit extra...

    bushcraft ethics

I agree! I like to try and 'watch my footprint' where I can, but I don't think anyone on the internet (using a computer/phone/electricity/internet/etc) can really rightfully preach about buying mass produced stuff; the only way to remove yourself as part of 'the problem' is to literally go live...

Can Someone Review My Gear List Please?

I tried looking online for basic compass and OS map reading skills, but all the guides are either badly written (make things too mathematical and complex), or they don't provide the info. Any suggestions on a good guide? I can read an urban map no problem (because let's face it, what isn't...

Reese Witherspoon!? Whut. (no really what do you mean lmao I have no idea)

Can Someone Review My Gear List Please?

Oh man the arms are ridiculous; my arms are a little shorter than average, so there's probably a good 4-5 inches of overhang. But I use the velcro sleeve tightner things. Makes the sleeves look a little ruffled (which I hate, but again this is a lifelong problem, I've never in my life owned a...

Can Someone Review My Gear List Please?

I went to Matalan today for a gander, and I found a men's XL Regatta coat. It's not too heavy, weatherproof and it fits (it's a tad loose in the chest and upper-upper body, but just about fits the hips - the next size down wouldn't fit around me at all), but it was £23 and will do the job for...

Can Someone Review My Gear List Please?

If anyone out there knows of any outlets or websites that sell plus sized (and by that I mean 20+, not the fake plus sized that a size 14 would struggle to fit into) outdoor gear for women, please let me know. I've spent many miserable hours online (and there is only one outdoor shop near me)...
