Hi peeps,
seems ages since I posted here.
I'm trying to get some insurance that will let me instruct in UK and France. The IOL insurers have said a very definite no because I mentioned in my application that I may do some work abroad. I'm currently opening a conversation with AXA as they...
I was that instructor. And the numpty definitely considered all the tools 'armes'. The Laplander came under particular scrutiny. The numpty's boss was the one who reluctantly spoke to the police on the phone. It was obvious he wasn't happy but he wouldn't override the xray operator.
Here is...
Sorry, I'm back aftre a bit of a sabbatical away from forums (fora?). Elm is currently my favourite bow wood. Not always easy to work and it can take a while to settle. My current competition bow is a bit of leftover elm and it has served well for over a year of shooting with very little set...
Countryside act 1981:
Also the Criminal Justice Act makes in an offence for anyone over 16 (it may have risen to 18) to be in possession of a crossbow, or any part of a crossbow unless under the supervision of a responsible person over the age of 21.

Sorry everyone. Other than 1 more person outstanding who has been very patient and I've managed to sort out I'm not going to be able to do this.
Unforseen circumstances have meant that I just haven't been around to sort it. And I didn't realise what sort of monster it was going to be.

Mine was cut last winter and split last March or so. It's been indoors for a couple of months (which pleases 'er indoors).
I'd say ir was pretty well stable now. In some ways I wished I'd done a bit more work on it earlier, it would have been easier.
Everything snufkin says is spot on.
You need very sharp tools (and it still tears) and a good rasp.

My 50 lb longbow was putting 1" bradheeads through a pork belly about 4". Amd Jerv managed to embed a stone pioint into the head of the humerus by about 1/2".
My 30lb hickory bow has put a couple of arrows through a steel up&over door (oops). They continued for about another 3 yards. It's a...
How about giving them locked closed opi plenty to get hold of and no need to wreck a knife.
On the original question,,,If I know the person can handle it it's fine, if they don't they are going to need me looking over their shoulder anyway. I'm more concerned with them damaging themselves or...
I was told that Turpentine is a plant product and has more affinity for the wood. Sounds a bit new-agish but it sort of makes sense. Well it did to me at the time.
I also prefer the smell.
If you have a Robert Dyas anywhere - they have it usually.
Probably not the right place and you will send me off to BB...
It's time to start phasing out some of my old cook's knives and I'm loking at the Kasumi ceramics.
Just one question...how the heck do you sharpen something that hard...or is the assumption that they will never get blunt.
If they stay oily or sticky give them a wipe with some real turps. It will help the oil penetrate and get of any excess.
I always put the first coat of oil on 50:50 with turps to help it get right into the wood.
