    Swedish Army snow smock

Swedish Army snow smock Appears to be unworn, very good condition. Width across chest is 70cm/27.5" so should fit a fairly large person over plenty of other clothes! I bought this from Endicotts some time ago but have never used it. £25 including UK post

    A fun job vacancy

I don't know if anyone here would be interested but it looks like a fun job opportunity for the summer. Full time Viking required, clothing and equipment provided! Apparently they are looking for a live-in Viking for a tourist attraction who can also do craft stuff...

    Luhkka style poncho

I couldn't justify Fjallraven's prices so I made this. The outer layer is cotton tent fabric from an old Vango tent that I bought on Ebay for under £25 including post, and the inside is boiled wool/light loden that came from a fabric remnants shop local to me.

Currently free for Kindle on Amazon

Books by Henry Lawson about Australian bushcraft are currently free for download on Amazon. Includes The Romance of the Swag and others. A little Googling finds it elsewhere online but if you have a Kindle then it's dead easy to download from Amazon...

    Tinder

What sort of tinder do people use? A while back I had fun playing with various of the tinders that you can buy but as I did so I was aware that some of them like kapok would not have been available to my ancestors in the UK until relatively recently. It pleases me to use the things that my...

    Paracord

I can't guarantee the quality of this but it seems to be the real thing and if people want it for jewellery and decorative projects it's remarkably cheap at £1-09 for 100 feet in a range of colours. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301136422574?var=600228711096

    Fishing

My fishing experience has been mostly of the bent pin on the end of a pier, freshwater crayfish traps and illegal tickling of trout. I'm looking to put together a very basic kit so that I can sit on the side of a river or whatever and dangle a line in to see what I get. What do you think is a...

    Rayway quilts

I'm looking for a quilt rather than a sleeping bag and I like the look of Ray Jardine's quilt kits. Has anyone made/used one or have any alternative suggestions? http://www.rayjardine.com/ray-way/Quilt-Kit/index.htm

    Starting carving

I'm a lifelong bushcrafter (over 50 years now which makes me feel very old) with all sorts of useful skills, but I've never tried wood carving. I've seen the wood spirits thread and I fancy having a go and I want to make a staff and a spoon and - you get the idea. I'm completely ignorant of...

    Old newbie/new oldie

I was delighted to find this excellent community and I've spent the last couple of days reading back through old posts. I grew up trampling over Dartmoor with my Dad and then spent several years in New Zealand where we kids ran wild in the local bush, building shelters, cooking over fires...
