    Best value Paracord UK Supplier?

I use my phone to post here anyway. Don't have IG though. Maybe I'll have to join the dark side...;)

    Bilhooks - anyone use them?

I bought a billhook to clear the thoroughly overgrown garden when we moved into our new house. Made clearing the briars and hazel an enjoyable task in the end. That fact plus a couple of near misses with my shins sobered me up and made me respect it for the capable tool that it is. I also used...

    MADE IN BRITAIN

Aye, shady practises indeed. Would be good if there was legislation like the US's Berry Compliance - except less fundamentally hegemonistic - that meant you could ensure that goods originated from the same country that their advertising implied.

    MADE IN BRITAIN

This. I use this list to check out British made kit when I feel I've got a few extra pennies to spend on something I need. I seem to recall that the liks on the site used to be far more comprehensive but that may just be memory failing me. On a slightly different subject, I see a lot of mention...

Regrets - The things you gave away or sold but wish you hadn't

That's incredibly generous of you mikehill. I couldn't accept such a kind gesture in good faith as I've already replaced it and to be honest it doesn't see much use. It was the sentimental value that got me. I tend to carry a little Petzl headlamp around with me these days. It's brighter and...

    Best value Paracord UK Supplier?

I'm still using the paracord lanyard and keyfob I bought from you years ago on BB (RIP). Excellent workmanship on the knots and good quality paracord too. You inspired me to buy some paracord of my own to whip round the neck of my axes. Did an OK job of it, if I do say so myself.

    Low Budget Equipment 2019

I totally agree but if I was in an environment where I was reliant on specific items to keep me alive I wouldn't realistically be looking to include kit in my list from the budget end of the spectrum anyway. For most uses though, the Hultafors is a little workhorse. I've got a couple of more...

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Good work. I've had no luck with charity shop finds for as long as I can remember. Seems like you're getting the luck for both of us!

    Low Budget Equipment 2019

Hultafors Heavy Duty craft knife. Cheap and cheerful but durable. Cut, slice, poke and pry, batten wood, it does it all for under a fiver...

Regrets - The things you gave away or sold but wish you hadn't

    1. Kifaru Scout. Sold it because it was too big for my daypack needs at the time, bought a Tailgunner instead. Subsequently added a baby to the family. Tailgunner not big enough for daypack any more... 2. I lent a small maglite to a friend and never got it back and now they can't find it...

    alpkit sleeping bags?

Bit harsh. I don't think he was inferring that there was anything wrong with the bags in their previous incarnation, just that they could be made better. I for one appreciate the honesty that they can improve upon what they've done before.

    65L or 80L pack?

IMHO you made the right choice, you can make a big bag smaller but you can't make a small bag bigger as others have said above. You might find that the extra space provides opportunity to use the pack in less 'bushy' situations as well - my LA Cerro Torre was pressed into service for grocery...

    Msr wisper lite international

I picked up a Universal in a sale on Sunday and have used it twice already, thus far only with the gas attachment. No problems with stiffness in the legs and the 'teeth' on them work very well to grip all but the largest pots that I've tried out. Gas works brilliantly although the flame...

    Msr wisper lite international

This thread couldn't have come along at a better time. I'm looking to replace my now decrepit Coleman Alpine stove (love that thing but it's always been fickle at lower temps). I've been looking at the Whisperlite for ages and this has pretty much made my mind up for me! Thanks!
