    PSA: Wood Burning Stove

looks like a very sensible woodstove for the money, what do they mean with a heath shield , a baffle? That would be great

    Heating a smaller lavvu

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p214/chrisdeschepper/CSC_0244.jpg this is the one I use, you can find it here.Very satisfied from it, I use it for years allready. Solidly built stainless steel, weight all included 11 kg and it kept me absolutely warm at -15° You can find it here...

    Heating a smaller lavvu

I don't know how big your tent is but 1 /you have to be careful with a woodstove in a smaller lavvu, I wouldn't do it and 2/ you have to be very careful with any fire in a synthetic tent. Maybe a heatpal, but try to find it in a boat shop that will be cheaper than tentipi dealers...

    trangia argument

smelly fuel in your part of the world, the methanol they sell here in Belgium costs 2€, has no colour and no smell; When I was in Ireland I noticed that it was more expensive and they added a blue colour and a disgusting smell. I suppose they try to avoid that way that people would drink it. A...

    Aluminum vs Steel Pots

I have the duossal pots for about 7 years and am very happy with them. I think they are not into production anymore, instead they use some kind of hardened aluminium. I wouldn't use pure aluminium to cook in it , because it is a very reactive metal, so if you put anything acid in it like tomatos...

    Tentipi Problem

amazed to read this. A couple of years ago I was camping with my varrie 9 in Ireland and had a storm up to force 8-9. No problems with those rings. But mine seem to be of a different make than those on your picture

Fourdog Titanium Stove - initial thoughts

I have a different woodstove (campfirestove), but it isn't airtight either. So when it really has to go quick in the morning , I don't put it on. Otherwise I put a couple of smaller logs that will burn quickly in less than an hour. The creosote depends also on the type of wood you are burning...

    Lavvu

mine survived gale force 9 in Ireland. I think they are very wind resistant. You need to apply the storm ropes and use good pegs of course.

    tipi inners

have a look at this site //www.wildnisabenteuer.de/, it is in German but when you click at kata and than mini lining you will see that he made a lining more or less as in a traditional indian teepee. That means not up to the top; He explains how to make it (in german). All together very...

    trangia 25

I used mine at -12°C without any problem. Just put the trangia fuel container in your pocket for ten minutes and afterwards it will ignite without a problem

Stove options for tents - a compilation

why don't you contact Moosecamp in Holland or Campfirestove in Germany. I used my campfirestove last week for 4 days and the thing worked perfectly as usual. the one from Helsport looks good as wel, also non corrosive steel. the four dogs stove is good, but I didn't buy it because of the...

    Clear meths

in Belgium you can buy meths in most supermarkets or gear stores under the name methylalcohol. In boxes of 5 litres it will cost 1€ a litre and it is without the purple dye. So it doesn't smell and it doesn't sooth the pots.

    trangia argument

I could perfectly fry meat in the trangia pan, but the burner should go for a minut to get its maximal heat output. As for the smelly fuel, that's true for the methylalcohol sold in Britain and Ireland. I go often camping in Ireland and discovered that the meths were very expensive and that a...

Stove options for tents - a compilation

we used the stove in a tentipi varrie 9. The worst temperature experienced with it was - 10 C and very chilly windy wheather. The stove easily heated it up to 20 to 22 C inside( but the thing was red glowing). That was in the Ardennes (Belgium) 2 years ago . A month later we camped in dry...

Stove options for tents - a compilation

I own the campfirestove and used it during two winters. I am very satisfied with it; non corrosive steel. Because of the chimney assembly no sparks and it heats very well.I like the four dogs stoves very much because of the baffle and the sturdy airtight construction, but indeed rather heavy...
