Which 5-10 staples to carry to make multiple dishes?

I was thinking - if I had to go walkabouts and had to carry everything with me food-wise - what 5-10 items would you take to make a variety of interesting dishes. This is assuming water was plentiful, and not using expensive dehydrated meals from a camping store. My list would be: 1) Rolled...

Cooking oil/fat with long shelf life

I'm thinking coconut oil may work best. Nothing to spill, and a long shelf life - for instance to keep in a bug out bag or in the car in case one comes across come road kill :naughty: Also considered a tin of anchovies in oil, but that would add potentially unwanted flavours. Dried suet...

    Mushroom ID

Can anyone identify this? Sorry - i don't have pics of the underneath or anything - was just a quick snap. I looked in a book - but could not identify it at all. Was seen growing on a live tree in Buckinghamshire. It was fairly large - about the size of my open hand.

    Camp fire Trivets

Why are these so hard to come by? I went to Hampton Court Palace today and saw some awesome ones in the Tudor kitchen. Simple designs - metal stand to hold up a pot or pan. Can I find one to buy? No. I could make one if I was so inclined, but I'm not :-) I can post pictures if anyone is...

    Hello

Been interested in bushcraft since I was a young boy gawking over a book called 'Bushcraft' (early '80's). I still have it, though a bit dog eared I'm more of an armchair bush crafter, though my interest transcends into my other hobbies - such as outdoor cooking.
