    Vango Ultralight 100 tent

Hi all, As an emergency, I'm looking for a vango ultralight 100 tent, the single skinned variety. Would any of you happen to have one you're willing to be rid of?

Giant's Seat Scout Camp January 30th-1st

Hi Phil, More than welcome to bob along. There seems to be alot going on to do with colonial, pioneer type skills at this meet, but if you come along, feel free to ask anyone for a skill share. People are more than happy to lend a hand, or spread the wisdom

    Arctic Tent

This is some really great feedback. I'm aware that shelter is a matter of personal preference, so it's great to see the varying opinions

    Arctic Tent

After taking it out for it's second jaunt to the far North I decided that my self-modded Polish Laavu is not my shelter of choice. For the space I get, I feel the weight and effort to set it up is too much to be justified. I've been looking at Wayland's Adirondack tarp mod he recently designed...

How much does your pack weigh for a winter tramp and camp ?

My pack used to weigh in at 23kg on a good day but I've gotten it down to around 13 to 14 with food

    Finland 2015 Photos

Thanks for the comments :) We had to pay 40 euros extra for an extra 23kg bag. That meant we had two bags each, plus our hand luggage. As for wood, there was a fair bit of dead standing around, so we made do with that. It was more than enough for a main fire plus stoves

    Finland 2015 Photos

Yello, Earlier this month I undertook my second expedition to the Kittila Municipality of Finland, camping just outside of the town of the same name. It was a year of testing kit and testing myself. This won't be an extended trip report per-say, but more a few things that I noticed and wanted...

    Wiggy's Ultima Thule

So I recently returned from a very successful Finland trip, having borrowed a Wiggy's Antarctica bag off of Gray of this parish. It was an amazing bag to use, if slightly large for me. Having now experienced first hand how good they are, I'm thinking of investing in the Ultima Thule, mostly for...

    Pile and Pertex Smock

Any variety will do, but I love my fleece pile and have been looking for one of these for a while. Just wondering if there are any on here. Cheers

    Duddon Valley Camping

Cheers :) There weren't very many edible plants in the area that I had the skills to recognise, but there were quite a few fungi, including some hedgehog mushrooms, a few charcoal burners, a fools funnel and a massive assortment of brown and orange birch boletes. While I know them, I'm still...

The best quality light sleeping system for -20°C

Just to put my two pennies in here, and they are very inexperienced pennies, I've used Snugpak for synthetics, Alpkit for Down and currently have a Wiggy's ready to go for Finland this year. I'm fairly sure Snugpak overrate their bags temperature ratings. This isn't to say I don't like them...

    Duddon Valley Camping

Hi Andy, There's a large amount of information in this forum section and in a few others on how to go about seeking permission for land. I'm not the most knowledgeable about this, but I'm sure many others on here would be. Another useful guide was recently written by Paul Kirtley as well...

    Kit you can lose?

Right, once again in search of a lighter pack, I figured I'd throw a question out to everyone: What is one bit of kit in your bag that you could easily replace/remove by either learning a skill or taking the small amount of time to implement it on camps?

    Rough Close Meet 16 - 18 January 2015

I'd like to try and make it to this one if you don't mind. I'll pack light and undertake the epic journey :)
