No one talks about wet proofs

Today I biked into Uni, about 12.5km in drizzle. I wore a Trespass (I think) jacket. My legs got wet, unsurprisingly. If I had to go in and was really thrashing down (it can be horrible), I'd wear some waterproof trousers as well (dunno the brand). My boots are waterproof enough as-is, but if...

    cold today...

That depends on the rain dewi! Not long ago we had some 'orrible weather down here in the algarve, google "albufeira floods 2015" and see what the piccies/videos are like! Ten metres and you'd be soaked! And as for shoes... there's some shoes with mesh top or ventilation things... ask me how I...

    It's incredibly warm for November

It's lovely down this way too: 16ºC outside according to the forecast (usually pretty accurate) and 20.5ºC inside my room ... I'm in trousers and an almost wooly jumper and feel chilly! :D We've got the woodstove on too in the kitchen! Of course, I'm used to warm weather, not cold now ... by the...

    Tent Hacking advice please!

Ok, so I put up what remains of the tent (very sloppily), took some photos and threw some water at the flysheet, finding out that it's water-repellent, but will soak through easily. seen from the front seen from the back the groundsheet is more or less 175x110cm and the flysheet...

    some more spears

I agree! Shiiiiny! :Wow: Who else need's a new keyboard? Shame I can't afford 'em! (Well, I might be able to, but I can't think of a decent excuse to... maybe I should go play the lottery!)

    Tent Hacking advice please!

Yeah, I thought photos might be necessary, I'll try to get some before I leave tomorrow. The groundsheet seams are on the sides, just to stop them unravelling. I've got some wash-in waterproofing from aldi, so maybe I'll use that on the flysheet! (still will need to change the colour though)

    Your picture of the day...

    Tent Hacking advice please!

So I have this tent, it's an ugly plastic single lager A-frame, that's probably 180cm long, polypropylene groundsheet and polyester top. Well, I had that tent, but I didn't put it away properly and the sun here eats everything! So the groundsheet started to crack along on side of the bottom. I...

Diy Jerry Can wood burning stove

Do you have a grate in your stove? or is the fire lit directly on the bottom? If you don't have a grate, try adding one, then a few more holes in the bottom for air feeding, try a larger flue... as regards to the baffle, I don't think it will really negatively affect draw except maybe when you...

What to do with a blanket?

So that's a "don't you dare cut it up!" then?:lmao: It is a second I think, and there is a thinner patch, part of which has a rip in! Soooo... how do you folks recommend sewing it? herringbone stitch maybe? What kind of thread? Oh I also have a "Peebles Pleasure All wool made in bonnie...

    What's for Supper?

I'm going to make spaghetti bolognese, more or less. Some garlic, onion, mince, maybe some oats, inna pan, fry 'em up, then whack in (previously prepared, I buy mine 'cos I'm lazy) tomato (... ummm... pulp? concentrate?) a thick, tomato sauce anyway, follow with carrots, mushrooms, bell pepper...

What to do with a blanket?

hmm... it's not called a "kilt" is it? I'd actually like a proper great-kilt-size plaid, but it miiiight get me in trouble wearing it I was also thinking of making matchstick cloak (dunno if it's the right name) which is a blanket with thongs in it to tie 'round your neck as a cloak. However...

What to do with a blanket?

I have a hard time starting in the morning too, and need a lot of time to "get up"(getting out of bed is not the same as getting up to me), but well... have a look at my location! I'm currently sitting with my outwards door wide open, with no shoes, wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a thin woolly...

What to do with a blanket?

Very neat idea, even if I was expecting more... permanent alterations. I might do that if I decide to take it out. That looks like a lovely blanket in the video!

What to do with a blanket?

So I've had a blanket given to me - to be used for whatever I want, cutting sewing, no need to return it. It's at least partly wool, as it has felted a bit, although you can still see the warp and weft of it if you look really close. It has a small hole and a small rip in it, and has faded...

    Seeds to sow...

Huh... ground cover and intruder deterrent are kinda obvious, nitrogen fixer I can believe for sure but flowers all year 'round? Maybe the hot weather here has led to a different kind of gorse. I'll have a look at some of the stuff we have tomorrow. I can't see anything eating it either! edit...
