Wild pig/boar sighting Nr A14 Elkington

sounds interesting! If you could pin point the place you saw it it'd be reasonable to still find tracks or sign there...or maybe some very fresh! There arent many pics of boar sign on UK sites, so take the camera with you...although it might be as well to keep the location (to a degree)...

    Mears in BBC Wildlife mag

Its a little feature on tracking, kind of PR for the new itv show I guess, worth a look if its your kind of thing. I'm hoping that all this is a precurser to an extensive tracking book, similar to the Bob Carss book but with added animal behaviour. Gigantic subject to cover but about as good...

Spring Cold Case...dead stuff of course

    Natural Navigator book pre order

I've been waiting for it for ages, and just got my copy last week. I've just started reading it, & it starts off kind of flowery (for my tastes), but I'm just getting to the more practical section, and its becoming just as interesting as I was hoping. I remember hearing an interview with...

    got a bit sloppy

Its so easy for these kinds of things to happen, well done finding them again! I sometimes like to go out without things to see how I fare if i did lose something important, its kind of the point to me, make do one way or another and take any stress out of a bad situation by practising it...

    Snow - an opportunity?

What are people wearing/doing to camoflage themselves when stalking and tracking

One of the most important parts of not being quite so noticeable is to sway when everything else does, in the same direction, same time. If you stand there stock still while the wind moves everything else you'll stand out, plus when everything else is moving is a good time to move forwards...

    Snow - an opportunity?

hiya, yes, they do smell different, a fox is quite musky, I cant really say that badgers have a particular smell thats very noticable. The fox wants everyone to know he's there, leaves his calling card on prominent places (up on fallen trees, anything 3ft-ish high), the badger changes his...

    Snow - an opportunity?

Great post - looks like you're having a great time there! I cant quite pick up the details from the photos, sometimes its helpful to take them in such a way that you get the shadows to pick out the detail (if possible) but the fox/ badger question looks too narrow to be a badger, its fairly...

    beautiful moments

during a recent trip to London village, had the pleasure of actually petting two urban foxes that appeared over the wall while we were wrapping a last minute birthday present outside a tube stop (like you do!?). 'never touched a wild fox before, and although urban foxes are obviously very...

Does any of your kit have 'mojo'?

Hi, I dont know about anyone else, but I have certain things that I always like to take with me, that have never let me down. For me its a 20 yr old raggedy fleece and SAK. 'Taken them up and down hills and mountains all over Europe, used and abused them countless times. Whether its...
