And I specially made pics of my first forged blade today. And first pattern welding.
And prepared a new avatar.
All for nothing (yet).
But it brings me back here sooner. Normally start on here before going camping.
Spent 3 weeks in Norway, end of july to half august.
The weather has been rather nasty. Only a few days without any rain.
The tent has proven to be capable of handling this without a problem. No need for an inner tent.
If it stops raining a small amount of wind dries the tent in an hour...
He's right.
But do remark he says he needs it for off-road access.
Unfortunately most of the 4x4 drivers I see are suit&tie guys who've never needed off-road access.
But I can only speak for Belgium of course. In 99% it's a fashion/status thing over here.
Well done.
I made one as well, only used micarta in stead of wood. Even the pins I used are the same:D
I think it makes little sense to try and oil olivewood with linseed oil.
The wood is quite oily by itself.
I think you're better off using CCL oil.
I have a Tundra 8 with a groundsheet.
The groundsheet altough quality material has a few drawbacks in it's standard form.
It is just a cricle. You need to put it down before putting the tent up.
So we made some alterations. We made a cut form the edge to the centre going a bit further...
bottom, 2 holes together in black cordura bit.
1 for guy line, other for top hat. That's how I do it.
in this thread there are pics.

I just wear what I like at that moment.
But most of my clothes are not bright colors anyway.
Most black stuff.
And some green.
Wildlife gets more scared from the noise you make than the colors you wear I've noticed.
I'd go 8 then.
2 person can sleep side by side. So you would need 1:2 the tent for sleeping 4. You can use the rest for material, table and chairs and entrance.
I have a Tundra 8.
Did a serious test few weekends back.
Setup: bloody easy with 1 person. (less than 10 minutes for full config)
Take down: just as easy.
Package : it is big and heavy. Car/canoe is a indispensible option.
Weather resistance: we had a serious thunder/hail storm and hours...
As I love some luxury I use 6cm thick and 200cm long self inflating Nordic Camping, sold at Makro (don't know if that exists in the UK). They cost less than 40 and also exist in different sizes/thicknesses. I sleep better on them than in my bed.
Your Tinde pole looks very much like the poles I use for my tarp.
Telescopoc with a taper.
The one with the Tundra 8 has the same thickness over the complete length.
Much more space consuming but stronger I guess.
Sturdy piece of kit.
Haven't tried it out yet, maybe this weekend.
When assembling do it alone or you may experience IKEA-syndrome.
Thanks again for the service.
