    Polish lavvu

I didn't get on too well with mine. They are heavy and get stiff and uncomfortable after a ground frost. I went back using my tarp and bivy bag.

    what bivi?

It's a bit more expensive, but after 4 or 5 different bivys and small tents, I stopped buying stuff after I got the outdoor research aurora bivy. It's not got the loop (which are extra weight and annoying) but it does have some tie points on the top so you can raise the top of you wish. It's...

Kifaru pointman for kifaru spike camp

I did get it off eBay. It's a cracking bag but a good 50 litres and far bigger than I need. How's the zulu? I've drooled over that for a while as well...

Light weight wood stove for bbq/campfire/stewing etc

I know what you mean. I wish they would do a mark 2 with titanium tubes but keep the steel grills. it isn't light but packs away small and isn't too heavy. certainly compared to some of the wood burning stoves you can now get.

Light weight wood stove for bbq/campfire/stewing etc

Grilliput would be my suggestion. had mine for years and it's never let me down. I only use the grill part, but if required, it has an optional 'tray' to hold your fuel in. http://www.industrialrev.com/grilliput/

    Poncho Identification - Help Please

@ Macaroon - I'll certainly stick a post up when I have given it a road test. Thanks for the answers. @ JAG009 - bungee cord belt is not a bad idea. Have you tried it? Does it affect the 'breathability' of the poncho (one of the things I really like about them).

    Poncho Identification - Help Please

Hi Macaroon. I looked at the Czech Poncho and it seems to have a sort of 'lizard neck' beneath the hood which this one doesn't. Weight not such an issue (I hope) because if it is tough enough it's replacing my current waterproof jacket and tarp. I've used a lighter poncho but the wind keeps...

    Poncho Identification - Help Please

Hi Everyone, I've got an eye on one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WATERPROOF-RAIN-PONCHO-MILITARY-GENUINE-ARMY-SURPLUS-BLACK-or-GREEN-/251542572941 - does anyone know what kind of Poncho it is? It states 'genuine army surplus' but nothing more than that. Any help greatly...

vango contour, where to put a roll mat?

They usually have a series of loops that sit behind the two straps on the face of the bag that clip down the lid. You can weave shock cord through these and lash your bag on. A friend of mine used to place his sleep mat inside and unravel it to kind of line his bag.

    Issue 3/4 self inflating mat

If you are asking are 3/4 mats good, I use mine all the time as I prefer the smaller size and I can always seem to find something to put under my legs. As for the 'self inflating' part - a few of my mates have used them and they always seem to end up blowing them up themselves.

    Cooking pots/pans advice.

Hi Alexlana, Seeing as we've stretched from pans to burners, here's my current prefered set up:- for the burner (meths): http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/cookers-and-stoves/RB102.html Combined with this (in case I run out of/drink all the meths)...

does anyone in the W. Yorkshire area have a Kifaru Late Season or Spike Camp...

I'm seriously considering investing in a kifaru but the price tag is huge and I've never tried one on before. If you have either and would be kind enough to let me try it on (not borrow) I would be most greatful (free pint). If you are in the West Yorkshire area (or a realistic drive away...

Calling all Belgian Army Mk2 Bivy Bag users...

I just thought I'd leave a little review on this post. I used the Belgian army bivy for three wet nights, one of them included a ground frost in the morning. The bag breaths well. Its not waterproof. The ability to wrap all your sleep gear into a bundle is great. MUST have a tarp over it...
